MMODude is an independent directory and research resource for people who buy, sell or trade digital goods in online games. We compare gold and currency sellers, account marketplaces and boosting services — and we publish the guides, tools and safety information that help you decide whether a purchase is worth the risk at all.

Why MMODude Exists

Buying game currency, items, accounts or services from a third party is, at its core, a trust problem. You send real money to a stranger for something that exists only inside a game, and if the seller disappears — or the game publisher acts against your account — there is usually very little recourse. The information you need to judge a seller is scattered across forum threads, Discord servers, subreddit warnings and review sites whose scores are sometimes padded.

We built MMODude to pull that scattered information into one place, apply the same criteria to every vendor, and be open about what we know and what we don't. We also believe the honest answer to “should I buy gold for this game?” is sometimes “no.” Many publishers prohibit real-money trading and enforce it; a few communities, including several private servers and older Asian MMOs, have long-established markets with their own norms. Where we've been able to verify the situation for a game, we say so on its page.

What You'll Find Here

How We Make Money

MMODude is free to use. It is funded by affiliate commissions and advertising. When you click certain links and complete a purchase, a vendor or affiliate program may pay us a commission at no additional cost to you. Our “Recommended Marketplace” placement (currently MMOGAH) and our NordVPN and NordPass banners are affiliate placements, and we may show advertising from third-party ad networks in the future. Every commercial relationship we currently have is listed on our Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure page.

The important point is what money does not do. Vendor scores are set from the criteria described in Our Review Process, and commissions are not an input to them. Vendors cannot pay to be ranked higher, to be removed from a listing, or to have a caution flag lifted.

How We Research

Our work relies on publicly available information: official game rules and support pages, vendors' own websites and policies, Trustpilot and comparable review platforms, independent scam-checking tools, and reports from player communities and from independent reviewers who have placed real orders. We weigh recent patterns more heavily than old ones, because a vendor's reliability can change quickly. We are explicit that our scores are editorial assessments built from this evidence — they are not the result of us placing a test order with every vendor on the site. The full standards we hold ourselves to are in our Editorial Policy.

What We Are Not

A Frank Word About Risk

Many game publishers prohibit buying and selling in-game currency, items and accounts for real money. Some enforce those rules with warnings, item removal, suspensions or permanent bans, and a ban can apply to the buyer as well as the seller. We don't hide that, and we don't recommend breaking a game's rules. Read the terms of service for your game, understand what enforcement looks like there, and treat any purchase as a decision you are making with open eyes. If you'd rather avoid the risk altogether, our farming and leveling guides show how to earn the same progress in-game.

Corrections and Feedback

We will get things wrong sometimes — prices move, vendors change, games patch their economies. If you spot something outdated or inaccurate, email support@mmodude.com with the page address and what needs fixing. We review reports, correct verified errors, and describe how corrections are handled in our Editorial Policy. Vendors can also ask us to correct factual errors about them using the same address; we'll consider evidence, but we do not change scores in exchange for anything.
