This Privacy Policy explains what information MMODude (“we,” “us,” “our”) collects when you use mmodude.com, how we use it, who else can see it, and the choices you have. We have tried to describe what actually happens on the site rather than boilerplate, and we will update this page if that changes.
01
Information You Give Us
Newsletter sign-ups. If you subscribe using the form in our footer, we collect the email address you enter. Addresses are stored on our web host in a subscriber file that is not publicly accessible. We use it only to send you MMODude updates.
Emails you send us. If you contact us, we keep the message and your address so we can respond and, where relevant, follow up on a correction.
Vendor and game suggestions. Anything you send through the suggestion links or the submit page is used to evaluate the request.
02
Information Collected Automatically
Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider records basic technical information when a page is requested — for example your IP address, the page requested, date and time, browser type and referring page. We use it for security, troubleshooting and to understand which pages are used.
Signup rate limiting. To prevent abuse of the newsletter form, a temporary record of recent sign-up attempts by IP address is kept briefly on the server.
Tools. Our calculators and planners run in your browser. The numbers you enter are not sent to us or stored on our servers.
Analytics. We do not currently run a third-party analytics script on the site. If that changes, we will name the provider here.
03
Cookies and Similar Technologies
MMODude does not set its own advertising or tracking cookies at this time. However, third parties involved in content and links on our pages may set or read cookies or use similar technologies:
Affiliate links. When you click a link to a vendor or a banner for a product such as NordVPN or NordPass, the destination site or affiliate network may set cookies so that a purchase can be credited to us. This happens when you click, on their domain, and is governed by their policies.
Google Fonts. Our pages load typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests files from Google's servers and your IP address is visible to Google when it does.
Vendor logos. Small vendor icons on some pages are loaded from Google's favicon service, so those requests also reach Google's servers.
Advertising. We may display ads from third-party networks, including Google AdSense. Where we do, third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, and you can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info. To learn more about how Google uses data from sites that use its services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. Where required by law, we will ask for your consent before ad or analytics cookies are used.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Doing so does not stop the site from working, though some third-party features may behave differently.
04
How We Use Information
To send the newsletter, if you subscribed, and to respond to messages you send us.
To operate, secure and improve the site and to fix technical problems.
To review and act on corrections, suggestions and reports.
To comply with legal obligations and to protect against fraud and abuse.
Where the law requires a legal basis for processing (for example in the EU and UK), we rely on your consent for the newsletter, our legitimate interests for site security and improvement, and legal obligation where applicable.
05
Who We Share It With
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help run the site — principally our web hosting provider — and where required by law. Third parties described in the cookies section, such as affiliate networks and advertising partners, receive data directly from your browser when you interact with their content or links; their handling of it is governed by their own privacy policies.
06
Third-Party Sites
MMODude links to vendor sites, game publishers and other resources we do not control. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Read a site's privacy policy before you give it personal or payment information, especially when buying digital goods.
07
Retention
Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Emails you send us are kept as long as needed to resolve your request and maintain a record of corrections. Server logs are kept by our hosting provider according to its retention schedule.
08
Your Choices and Rights
Unsubscribe. Email support@mmodude.com from the address you subscribed with and we will remove it. Any newsletter we send will also include unsubscribe instructions.
Access, correction and deletion. You can ask what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct or delete it.
Regional rights. If you live in the EU, UK, California or another region with privacy laws, you may have additional rights, such as objecting to processing or requesting a copy of your data. Contact us and we will respond within the time the law requires. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Do Not Track / global privacy signals. We do not build advertising profiles ourselves. Third-party partners set their own policies on browser signals.
09
Children
MMODude is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Purchasing digital goods from third parties is intended for adults. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
10
Security and International Use
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Our web host and some third parties mentioned above may process data in countries other than your own.
11
Changes to This Policy
We will post any changes here and update the date at the top of the page. If a change is material — for example we begin using an analytics or advertising provider not described here — we will say so clearly.
