What EA Says
EA’s FC rules page is direct: buying coins is against the rules because it inflates Transfer Market prices and harms players who earned coins legitimately; using the Transfer Market to transfer coins is against the rules and can put the account at risk; and coin sellers often require login details, which puts the account itself at risk of theft. Its safe-play page adds that coins cannot be purchased — only earned by playing matches or selling items on the Transfer Market — and that only FC Points may be bought, from the Ultimate Team Store, a console store or trusted retailers.
The penalties, per EA and the coverage of them: coin removal (a wipe to zero), Transfer Market bans (via the Companion App, console or PC), and account suspension or bans for serious or repeated cases. The usual order reported is wipe, then market ban, then account ban — but EA reserves all three from the first offence.
The Official Route: FC Points, Not Coins
The only official purchase is FC Points, bought in game, from a console store or from trusted retailers. FC Points buy packs and store items; they do not convert into coins, and coins are earned only by playing matches, completing objectives and selling items on the Transfer Market at fair prices.
That is the whole official economy. Any offer of coins for money is, by EA’s definition, a third-party coin sale, whatever delivery shape it uses.
The Three Delivery Shapes
Coin sellers deliver in three ways, per the coin-market coverage: comfort trade, where the seller signs in through the EA Web App with your login and fresh backup codes and moves the coins with no inflated sale; player auction, where you buy a cheap card the seller lists at a huge price (with 5% tax, and the inflated sale is exactly what EA looks for); and mule account, where you receive a separate account holding coins instead of coins on your own club.
Each shape has a different detection surface, and none is undetectable: comfort trade hands over login and backup codes; player auctions leave an inflated sale on the market record; mule accounts are separate accounts whose history EA can read. A seller claiming any shape is “undetectable” is selling a promise EA’s own rules contradict.
What Can Go Wrong
- Coin wipe. EA may confiscate all or most bought coins, sometimes leaving the balance at zero — including coins earned legitimately alongside them, in the worst reports.
- Transfer Market ban. Losing market access breaks Ultimate Team itself: no buying or selling players, which is the mode’s core loop.
- Account theft. Comfort trade requires login details and backup codes. A seller with those holds the account, and EA treats sharing account information as itself a violation.
- Generators do not exist. Coin balances live on EA’s servers; no app, site or “generator” can add coins, and sites promising free coins want logins, emails or survey completions.
Red Flags to Avoid
- Any seller asking for your EA login, email password, backup codes, or asking you to switch off two-factor authentication.
- Comfort-trade delivery framed as “safe” because it leaves no market trace — it leaves a login trace instead.
- “Free coin” generators, glitch guides and giveaways that require a login or a survey.
- Payment outside a marketplace, with no dispute path.
If You Decide to Go Ahead
We can’t make a purchase allowed by EA’s rules. If you still buy, understand the penalty ladder before paying: use a marketplace with buyer protection, never share your login or backup codes, pay with a disputable method, and keep records. Our EA Sports FC page lists the sellers we review with their scores.
Lower-Risk Alternatives
Earn coins by playing: Squad Battles, Division Rivals and Champions rewards, selling what you do not need, and trading at fair market prices — the honest routes the FC guides recommend. Our EA Sports FC coin farming guide covers the earnable routes, and the leveling guide covers progression. FC Points, bought officially, are the only purchase EA supports.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is buying EA Sports FC coins allowed?
No. EA says buying Ultimate Team Coins from a third party is against its rules, and it may limit or revoke Transfer Market access or ban the account.
What happens if EA catches coin buying?
The usual order is a coin wipe, then a transfer-market ban, then an account ban for serious or repeated cases — though EA reserves all three.
What is comfort trade?
A delivery shape where the seller signs in through the EA Web App with your login and backup codes and moves coins without an inflated market sale. It hands the seller your account access.
Do FC coin generators work?
No. Coin balances live on EA’s servers, so no app or site can add coins. “Free coin” sites want your login, email or survey completions.
