Square Enix states that trading real money for in-game benefits is prohibited and that it will take stringent disciplinary action, up to permanent bans, and its support FAQ says action is taken against users who join RMT transactions as well as those who start them. The studio publishes its enforcement: notices have reported thousands of accounts terminated in single waves, most recently listed in a March 2026 notice.
