What the Terms Say
Unlike some SEGA-published titles, this game’s prohibitions are public in English: SEGA’s customer-support site reproduces them in full as Article 10. §10(14) is the clause the whole grey market runs into: players agree not to commit “Trading in the Game Currency, Game Items and similar for profit in real-world cash, property or other assets (so-called ‘real money trade’) or all preparatory acts, including inducing another to trade, making offers to trade or accepting offers to trade, regardless of whether such actions occur inside or outside this Service.”
Two neighbouring clauses reach the commercial side: §10(4) prohibits using the service “for business operation or profit-making”, and §10(13) prohibits “acts which relate to the Service or Content and are intended to make a profit without the consent of our company” — the language that covers organised account-selling operations. Boosting has its own publisher statement: SEGA’s Help Center defines it as handing over your account so someone else can play for you, states it “is not an acceptable behavior”, and notes that during events, players reaching the top 300 are limited to two account transfers for the rest of the event specifically to deter it. The honest limit of the record: no fetched text for this title contains a sentence that literally says “you may not sell your account”, so the account warning in this guide rests on §10(4), §10(13) and §10(14) — not on a clause we could not fetch.
The Official Route — In-App Only
Crystals are sold in exactly one official place: inside the app, through the App Store or Google Play, on your own account, with no password ever handed to a website. Reporting on the current EN version puts one concrete bundle at 3,060 Crystals for US$24.99; no fuller official rate card was published on a SEGA page we could fetch, so treat the in-app store itself as the price list. There is no official EN web store for this game — the official site is a news and patch-notes site — and when we checked the usual top-up brands in October 2026, none of Codashop, UniPin or JollyMax carried a Colorful Stage! page. Any website wearing an “official SEGA top-up” badge is wearing a costume.
Know what an official Crystal buys, from Sekaipedia’s gacha documentation: a pull costs 300 Crystals, a 10-pull 3,000, and the 10-pull guarantees at least one 3★ or higher where ten singles do not. The base 4★ rate is 3%, doubled to 6% on Colorful and Bloom Festival banners. On permanent banners a pity gauge builds at +1.0 points per pull paid for only with paid Crystals and +0.5 for any other pull, guaranteeing a random 4★ at 50 points and a rate-up 4★ at 100. A featured card can always be sparked: every pull earns one banner seal, and 300 seals — 300 pulls, 90,000 Crystals at standard prices — exchange for it, with up to 10 seal exchange tickets (10 seals each) able to cut that to 200 pulls. Paid and free Crystals are not interchangeable: a whole class of paid-only gachas (Premium Present, Select List, Happiness Package and Memorial Select) costs 3,000 paid Crystals, and the Limited Select List costs 5,000 paid. The Halloween Premium Gift Gacha live until November 6, 2026 is one of them, at 3,000 Paid Crystals per pull — free Crystals, however farmed, do not open it.
What Can Go Wrong
- The top-up itself sits under §10(14). A third-party Crystal sale is a real-money trade in game currency, preparatory acts included, whether it happens inside or outside the service. The delivery shape decides how much more you risk on top of that — see the checklist — but no delivery shape makes the trade one SEGA’s text permits.
- A bought account travels with its history. Accounts change hands through SEGA’s own device-transfer feature, which exists so you can move your account to a new phone. SEGA’s event transfer limit for top-300 players shows transfer patterns are watched where it matters, and anything the account did before you owned it — including someone else’s boosting — is attached to it when you log in.
- Recovery follows the original links. The seller created the account and its original bindings. A password change at handover does not rewrite that history, and an account reclaimed through its original links takes its cards, Crystals and event progress with it.
- Paid Crystals are the expensive mistake. Paid-only banners price in paid Crystals only (3,000 paid for the standard paid gachas, 5,000 paid for the Limited Select List, per Sekaipedia). A cheap account or top-up stocked with free Crystals cannot pull them, whatever the listing implies — check which kind of Crystal a balance actually is before valuing it.
- Thin market, thin protection. Only two tracked vendors list this game at all. SEAGM is the sole tracked top-up seller and carries a 3.9/5 MMODude score — below 4.0, so read its review page’s caveats before treating its floor price as the market price. Eldorado is the sole tracked account marketplace. With one seller per category, there is no competitive market to discipline either price.
Red Flags to Avoid
- “Crystals or cards sent from my account to yours” — no transfer, gifting or player-marketplace function exists in Project Sekai, so nothing can be delivered that way.
- A top-up whose checkout wants your password, login code or transfer code. The tracked top-up in this guide delivers by Player ID only; a password request is a different, riskier product wearing the same listing.
- “Official SEGA web top-up” claims — SEGA runs no EN web store for this game, and no Codashop, UniPin or JollyMax page for it was found.
- Crystal prices far below the in-app rate with no explanation of the payment behind them — a reversed payment unwinds against the account that received the Crystals.
- Account listings priced on rank or event placement — event ranks expire with the event; cards, unspent Crystals (and whether they are paid or free) and Character Ranks are the durable value.
- A Crystal seller who wants the deal moved to a chat app and paid by gift card, where no marketplace order exists to dispute.
Buying Checklist
- Benchmark against the app first: Crystals are sold officially only in-app (a 3,060-Crystal bundle at US$24.99 is the one price point in current reporting), a pull is 300 Crystals and a spark is 90,000 — do the per-pull maths on every offer.
- If you use the tracked top-up regardless: it is SEAGM (3.9/5 on MMODude), Player ID delivery only, floor $0.32 for 50 Crystals at our October 2026 check. Give a Player ID, never a password — and read the sub-4.0 review caveats first.
- If you buy an account regardless: Eldorado (4.1/5 on MMODude) held 868 live offers at our October 2026 check, floor $0.45. Verify the card roster, unspent Crystal balance and its paid/free split, and Character Ranks in game before escrow releases.
- Confirm the account’s server and login binding match how you play — the EN/global account is the one this guide covers; other regional servers are separate accounts.
- Pay through the marketplace checkout so the escrow holds your money until delivery checks out, and keep the receipts.
The Safe Alternatives
The free Crystal supply in this game is unusually deep — stories, side stories, Character Ranks, song first-clears, events, login campaigns and Virtual Lives all pay Crystals, and our farming guide works through them route by route. The current EN version, 6.0.0 (live September 29, 2026), even raised the Character Rank cap to 175, opening more of that supply. If you do spend, the in-app store is the route SEGA’s own text leaves standing: it credits your account directly and no credential ever changes hands. One delivery shape in this whole market never puts a credential at risk: a top-up that asks for your Player ID and nothing else. Everything beyond that — passwords, transfers, whole accounts — is what Article 10’s clauses were written around.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you buy Project Sekai Crystals from other players?
No. The game offers no trade, gift or market channel between players, so Crystals and cards stay where they were earned or bought. A Crystal balance grows three ways only: bought in-app for that account, earned on it through play, or credited to it by a top-up seller — the tracked seller, SEAGM, works by Player ID alone. A “player-to-player Crystal sale” is not a product that exists; what is being sold is an account, or nothing at all.
What do SEGA’s terms actually ban for Project Sekai?
Article 10(14) of SEGA’s published prohibitions bans “trading in the Game Currency, Game Items and similar for profit in real-world cash” and all preparatory acts, inside or outside the service; §10(4) and §10(13) ban profit-making use of the service without SEGA’s consent. SEGA’s Help Center also calls boosting — handing your account to someone else to play — “not an acceptable behavior”, and the game limits account transfers for top-300 event players to deter it. No fetched clause literally says “you may not sell your account” for this title.
How much does it cost to guarantee a featured card?
A pull costs 300 Crystals and every pull earns one banner seal; 300 seals exchange for the featured card, so a full spark is 300 pulls or 90,000 Crystals (Sekaipedia). Up to 10 seal exchange tickets, worth 10 seals each, can cut that to 200 pulls. On permanent banners there is also a pity gauge: +1.0 points per pull paid for only with paid Crystals, +0.5 otherwise, with a random 4★ guaranteed at 50 points and a rate-up 4★ at 100.
Are SEAGM and Eldorado Project Sekai listings official?
No — they are third-party sellers, and SEGA runs no official web store for this game at all: Crystals are sold officially only inside the app. At our October 2026 check SEAGM (3.9/5 on MMODude) sold Crystals top-ups delivered by Player ID only, floor $0.32 for 50 Crystals, and Eldorado (4.1/5) listed 868 accounts from $0.45. Neither is endorsed by SEGA, and Article 10(14) covers the trades themselves.
