What Gravity’s Terms Say
Ragnarok Online on WarpPortal is run by Gravity Interactive, and its Terms of Service are blunt about the whole market. Section 2(f), headed “In-Game Items,” says players gain no ownership interest in virtual items, including in-game currency, and states: “YOU MAY NOT SELL SUCH VIRTUAL ITEMS FOR ‘REAL’ MONEY OR EXCHANGE VIRTUAL ITEMS.” Doing so, the Terms add, may lead to the immediate, automatic termination of the licence, without notice.
The same section says Gravity does not recognise or condone any outside service for exchanging virtual items, names auction sites as an example, and will not support such transactions. Section 3 adds the practical cost of losing an account: if access is terminated, you lose your user ID, benefits and virtual items, and the company has no obligation to compensate you for them.
How Bought Zeny Moves, and How GMs Spot It
Third-party Zeny in Ragnarok Online is normally handed over in game: a face-to-face trade, in-game mail, or a “bogus vend” in which the buyer lists a worthless item for hundreds of millions of Zeny so the seller can buy it. Those three routes are exactly the ones the iRO GM team has described publicly. In a statement quoted on the official WarpPortal forums, GM Oda said suspensions for receiving illegal Zeny happen in three cases: a direct trade or mail of Zeny from a novice account created solely to hold mass amounts of botted Zeny, a bogus vend used to hide a money transfer, and a dummy account used to receive bought Zeny before passing it to a “clean” account.
Oda also said the team does not suspend accounts for innocent transactions a player could not have known involved illegal Zeny. The catch for buyers is that a paid delivery matches one of the three flagged patterns by design, so the transfer itself is the evidence.
What Can Go Wrong
- Suspension or termination. Buying Zeny breaks section 2(f) of the Terms, and Gravity can end the licence immediately and without notice; everything on the account, bought and earned alike, goes with it.
- Botted supply. The GM team’s own description ties sold Zeny to novice holding accounts and botted stock, which is the supply most likely to be traced and acted on.
- No support. Gravity says it will not support outside exchanges of virtual items, so a seller who takes payment and never delivers leaves you with no publisher recourse.
- Laundering traps. Moving bought Zeny through a dummy account or a fake vend is itself one of the three suspension cases the GMs named, not a way around them.
Red Flags to Avoid
- Delivery from a level 1 novice or a throwaway account, the exact pattern the GM team flags first.
- Being asked to list a junk item in a vend for an enormous price so the seller can “pay” you through it.
- Sellers who promise the Zeny is “hand-farmed” and ban-proof; the Terms ban the sale itself, whatever the source.
- Payment only by crypto, gift cards or bank transfer, with no buyer protection.
- Anyone asking for your WarpPortal login to deliver Zeny “directly” to your account.
If You Decide to Go Ahead

Gravity sells no Zeny directly, but it does sell the game’s premium currency.
