Two Economies, Two Routines
Gold and mana are the base currencies, produced by gold mines and mana mills and spent on buildings, troops and research. Gems — also called treasure — are the premium currency, bought in packs from 230 gems upward per the Castle Clash wiki shop page, but also earnable free in small amounts. The farm splits accordingly: gold is a production-and-raid routine, gems are a checklist routine.
Upgrade order matters for gold: mines and mills first, then vaults to hold the output, then Town Hall to raise building limits. A full vault that cannot grow is income thrown away.
Gold: Mines, Vaults and Raiding
Build and upgrade gold mines until you hit the Town Hall limit, then upgrade gold vaults so raids and production have somewhere to go. When you need gold fast, raid other players’ bases: the WriterParty guide’s advice is to skip bases loaded with troops and hit ones whose defences you can clear cheaply, since troop losses eat the profit.
Before logging off, spend excess gold on walls. Walls are the classic gold sink: a base showing no loot is a base raiders skip, and vault upgrades alone cannot protect a full treasury.
Gems: The Free Checklist
The Castle Clash wiki’s free-to-play account guide lists the repeatable gem sources, and its figures are the ones used here. Daily sign-in pays a daily reward including 40 gems, a weekly reward including 200 gems, and 5 gems for the sign-in itself. Lost Battlefield arena play, winning about half your matches daily, pays around 210 gems a week. Hero trials pay gems depending on the level chosen, up to about 110 on the easiest tier, with an extra attempt every 6 hours.
Achievements pay 15 to 40 gems each for tasks such as earning gold totals, clearing dungeons or upgrading building types. Check the achievement list often; many players leave completed achievements unclaimed. The Bazaar sometimes offers gems free or for 1 gem.
The Quest-Board Talent Trick
The highest-value single gem trick in the fan guides is the quest board: when a quest asks you to change a talent, use a Talent Refresh Card instead of paying 300 gems, and collect the 300-gem quest reward. Team dungeons such as Mesa and Lava Isle drop the cards, and the Trade Merits shop sells them. It converts a farmed card into pure premium currency.
Never spend gems to speed up construction unless it is an emergency. The fan guides agree: gems are best saved for hero rolls during events, where the same gems buy more.
Buying Gems Instead
Gems are sold officially in game, and third-party top-ups exist for Castle Clash accounts. The official route is the only one with a guaranteed delivery; a third-party top-up that asks for your login carries the account risk our buying-safety guide covers. Compare sellers on the Castle Clash page before paying.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you get free gems in Castle Clash?
Daily sign-ins, Lost Battlefield arena rewards, hero trials, achievements and the quest-board talent trick. The fan free-to-play guide puts sign-ins plus a half-win arena week at roughly 200-plus gems a week before achievements and trials.
What is the quest-board talent trick?
When a quest asks you to change a talent, spend a Talent Refresh Card instead of 300 gems, then collect the 300-gem quest reward. The cards drop from team dungeons or sell in the Trade Merits shop.
What should you spend gems on?
Hero rolls during events, per the fan guides — not construction speed-ups, which burn the scarcest currency for the smallest gain.
