Catch and Tame! Pets Farming Guide: Lassos, Pens, Eggs & Mutations

In Catch and Tame!, pets are not a currency the game prints — they are animals you catch, one lasso throw and one taming minigame at a time, and then ranch: placed in pens, they generate income over time, including while you are offline. So “farming pets” is a ranching discipline with four levers: lasso strength, which decides what you may catch at all; pen income, which funds everything; feeding and luck, which raise what your stock produces and becomes; and eggs and mutations, which are the routes to stock you cannot simply catch. This guide works the four levers in order.

Read This First: Catch Power Is the Gate

Your lasso decides which animals exist for you. Every creature has a tier, and the beginner guides are blunt about the mechanic: if an animal will not catch, your current lasso is not strong enough yet — the game locks higher-tier creatures behind higher-tier lassos. There is no technique that talks a weak lasso past that gate. Farm income, upgrade the lasso, return for the animal that refused you.

The shape of a catch, for reference: find the animal, throw the lasso, complete the taming minigame. Boss Pets are the documented exception at the top — they spawn on named islands and ordinarily take a partner to catch, or the Boss Catcher enchant to attempt solo. Everything below that tier is a solo loop of explore, catch, pen, and reinvest.

Pen Income: The Engine That Runs Offline

A caught animal placed in your pen produces money over time, and the pens keep producing while the owner is offline — the tycoon loop under the collecting game. That makes the early farm a volume play: fill the starter pen with steady, catchable animals before hunting rarity, because a full pen of commons funds the lasso upgrades that unlock everything rarer, while an empty pen and a big ambition fund nothing.

Expand the pen as income allows — the beginner route in the wiki coverage expands the starter pen several times before the mid-game — and treat pen space as an income stat, not storage: every slot is a salary. Common catches fund the loop; rare and secret animals, when your lasso reaches them, become the long-term earners the slots were bought for.

Feeding and Luck: Raising What You Have

Feeding is the second lever: feeding animals raises their luck, and luck feeds the systems that turn ordinary stock into extraordinary stock — combining and hatching outcomes both lean on it. Feed with a plan rather than at random: the route planners’ consensus is to pick the target animal or breeding route first and spend food there, because scattered feeding raises everything slightly and nothing decisively.

The combining system turns selected pairs into new pets, which is the route to stock that does not spawn for your lasso yet. Pair that with the Trait Machine — which rerolls and assigns traits such as Rideable or Luck, sacrificing other pets into a primary — and a mid-game ranch stops being a collection of catches and becomes a production line aimed at specific pets.

Eggs, Nurseries and Mutations: The Rare Routes

Eggs are the second supply of pets: event eggs and hatched stock, with Nurseries that speed hatching and improve luck — a building worth its slot once eggs become a regular input. Event eggs normally price in Robux in the in-game shop (the secret-pet guides put a full event set around 1,800 Robux), which is exactly why the weekly Admin Abuse event matters: admins spawn rare rewards across servers, including secret and mutated pets, ride and fly potions, and Mythical and event eggs that can appear free.

Mutations are the third route. Feed a pet the special fruits that appear during server events — Cosmic and Volcanic Fruits and Chocolate Hearts in the guides’ lists — and it may mutate into a stronger, more valuable version; mutated pets also occasionally spawn in the wild, ready to catch for anyone whose lasso is ready. Either way, mutation is where mid-tier stock becomes top-tier value without a top-tier catch.

Buying Pets & Eggs

One verified vendor trades this game: Eldorado’s Catch and Tame Shop — thousands of top tier pets per its own copy, named stock from Cosmic Griffin and Celestial Hydra to Megalodon, a dedicated Eggs section, and a cheapest-Mythical section (Kraken, Void Dragon, Infernal Hydra) — delivered in game through its seller chat. No second vendor could be verified at our check, and no per-offer prices rendered in our fetch, so none are quoted. The full record is in our buying guide. Frequently Asked Questions

Why can’t you catch some animals in Catch and Tame!?

Catch power. Higher-tier creatures are locked behind higher-tier lassos: if the animal will not catch, the current lasso is not strong enough. Earn pen income, upgrade the lasso, and return — technique does not substitute for the tier.

How do pets make money in Catch and Tame!?

Placed in your pens, animals generate income over time — including while you are offline. A full pen of steady catches is the early engine; it funds the lasso upgrades, pen expansions and buildings that unlock the rarer, higher-earning stock.

How do you get mutated pets?

Two documented routes: feed pets the special fruits that appear during server events (Cosmic and Volcanic Fruits, Chocolate Hearts) for a chance to mutate them into stronger versions, or catch mutated pets that occasionally spawn in the wild.

Where can you buy Catch and Tame! pets?
