What’s New: autumn 2026
Updated October 15, 2026. The latest changes that affect this guide:
- Ghrazi Blood Knights (October 12) is the first duo-only boss, against Lady and Lord Ghrazi together. Rewards include tier 95 Legendary Crossbows, the Invoke Arisen Flesh incantation and a Lady Ghrazi pet; a solo version is planned about four weeks after launch.
- Havenhythe Part II (September 28) opened four members-only regions: Heathervein, Moonsylvar Wood, Fenmoor and Shuruk-Ba.
- Harvest Hollow, the Halloween event, runs from October 12 to November 1.
- RuneScape: Reignited is CANCELLED: Jagex cancelled the planned December 2 fresh-start mode on October 15, 2026, after player backlash. There is no separate Reignited economy and no Reignited gold; gold you make now stays on Veteran characters. See what was cancelled.

Skilling Money Makers
Herblore is consistently one of the strongest gold-per-hour skilling methods — making overloads and other high-tier potions to sell to other players who'd rather buy than train the skill themselves. Divination (memory harvesting) feeds directly into Invention material costs, making it valuable both to sell raw and to use yourself. Farming herb runs remain a low-effort passive income source, same as in Old School.
Divination and Invention
Invention is where a lot of RS3's real money-making happens: disassembling unwanted items for components, then crafting high-demand perks (Invigorating, Precise, Equilibrium among others) to sell to PvMers who need them for their gear. This takes setup time to learn well but pays back significantly once you understand which components and perks are in demand.
Slayer for Profit
Certain Slayer assignments are notably more profitable than others — tasks like Ripper Demons and Aquanites are commonly farmed specifically for their loot table rather than just Slayer experience, since the drops sell reliably on the Grand Exchange.
Bossing for Profit
Araxxor, Telos, and the Elite Dungeons all offer high-value unique drops for players with the gear and mechanics knowledge to farm them consistently. These require a real time investment to learn but scale into some of the best gold-per-hour in the game once mastered.
Grand Exchange Flipping
Same principle as Old School's flipping — buy underpriced, sell at market rate, profit from the spread. RS3's Grand Exchange has its own price history and volume patterns distinct from OSRS, so don't assume identical items behave the same way across both games.

Evaluate Profit After Supplies
RuneScape 3 money-making methods can consume potions, divine charges, ammunition, familiar pouches, degradation costs and other supplies. A boss or Slayer task with valuable drops can look much better on paper than it does after operating costs.
Track several sessions rather than one lucky hour. Rare drops create enormous variance, so separate dependable common-loot profit from jackpot drops when deciding whether a method fits your goals.
- Price consumables before starting expensive PvM.
- Record common-loot value separately from rare drops.
- Choose methods your gear and mechanics can complete consistently.
Skilling Profit and Opportunity Cost
High-level gathering and processing can generate steady income while also progressing skills. The best method depends on whether you value maximum GP, experience, low attention or account unlocks.
A method that earns slightly less but advances a skill you need for quests, Invention, Archaeology or another unlock can be more valuable to the account than pure cash farming.
Slayer as a Long-Term Economy
Slayer combines combat experience, task progression and monster-specific drops. Its profitability improves as higher-level creatures, useful unlocks and better combat gear become available.
Use task preferences and blocks to shape the skill around your goals, but do not optimize so aggressively for profit that you avoid tasks needed for learning or account progression.
Grand Exchange Risk Management
Flipping depends on the spread between buy and sell prices, transaction limits and actual trade volume. Test margins with small quantities before committing capital, particularly on expensive or low-volume equipment.
Keep a cash reserve. Having every coin locked in offers can prevent you from buying supplies or reacting to a better opportunity.
Build Multiple Income Sources
RS3 updates can reprice drops and materials quickly. Maintain several methods: a dependable skilling option, a combat option and a market-based option you understand. Diversification keeps one patch from eliminating your entire routine.
RS3 Gold Farming Should Match Your Skills and Capital
RuneScape 3 offers income through combat, skilling, bosses, clues, processing, daily systems, and the Grand Exchange. Choose methods your levels, gear, quests, and starting cash can support efficiently.
Opportunity Cost Matters
A method that earns less Gold but also trains a needed skill or unlocks future content may be better for the account. Compare pure GP per hour with the progression value you would otherwise have to obtain separately.
Grand Exchange Margins Need Realistic Volume
Buying and selling can generate profit, but margins, limits, price movement, and slow fills matter. Test smaller quantities before committing large amounts of cash.
Bossing Profit Is Long-Term and Variable
Rare drops can dominate advertised hourly rates. Track supplies, deaths, common loot, and enough kills to smooth out luck before judging a boss's real return.
Daily and Repeatable Systems Can Add Baseline Income
Current shop runs, vis wax-style systems, invention or processing opportunities, and other repeatables may add value with limited time. Use only those that remain worthwhile for your account and market.
Protect Your Cash Stack
Keep enough GP for supplies, repairs, gear upgrades, skilling, and unexpected opportunities. Avoid unofficial gold sellers, account sharing, or offers that require credentials.
RuneScape 3 Profit Should Be Measured After Supplies
RS3 methods can combine coins with alchables, materials, boss drops, skilling outputs, and other tradeable rewards. Subtract ammunition, divine charges or current equipment costs, potions, food, familiars, and Grand Exchange friction from headline profit.
Recalculate Efficiency After Major Unlocks
A route that works today may become obsolete after a new zone, stronger build, profession tier, market shift, or account unlock. Compare full sessions—including setup, travel, downtime, consumables, failures, and selling time—before committing to long repetitions.
RS3 Profit Must Include Charges and Combat Supplies
RuneScape 3 money-making rates can look very different after food, potions, ammunition, divine charges or current equipment upkeep, familiar costs, death expenses, and Grand Exchange behavior are included. Track net profit over several complete sessions.
Use Net Progress Instead of a Best-Case Rate
Compare full sessions after travel, setup, matchmaking, deaths, consumables, repairs, inventory work, and selling time. Re-evaluate the route after major equipment upgrades, new account unlocks, patches, seasonal changes, or economy shifts.

Cancelled: RuneScape Reignited
Reignited, as announced at RuneFest, was to be a new character type with its own economy and Grand Exchange. Jagex cancelled it on October 15, 2026, so there is no separate Reignited economy and no Reignited gold. The gold you farm on an existing character stays in the Veteran economy.
- Use or sell leaving MTX items first. Items marked for removal must be used by November 23; leftovers convert to GP at a reduced rate Jagex hasn’t published.
- Don’t buy Reignited gold. It does not exist and never will: Jagex cancelled Reignited on October 15, 2026.
Jagex said on October 6 that it was re-evaluating Reignited after a backlash from existing players, and on October 9 it listed changes it was considering. On October 15, Mod Ryan confirmed the cancellation. Other December 2 content still goes ahead, but not Reignited — there is no separate economy and no Reignited gold.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the best skilling method for gold in RS3?
Herblore (making high-tier potions to sell) and Divination feeding into Invention are both consistently strong, though Invention perk-making tends to have the highest ceiling once you know what's in demand.
Do I need high combat level to make good gold in RS3?
Not necessarily — skilling methods like Herblore and Divination don't require combat at all, though the highest gold-per-hour bossing and Slayer methods do need solid PvM gear and mechanics knowledge.
Is Invention worth training just for the money-making?
Many players do train it primarily for the profit potential from disassembling and perk-making, since it feeds directly into gear upgrades other players are actively buying.
