Five Tracks, One Cap
The master rule: a student’s level cannot exceed your Sensei (account) level — Gameplay.tips’ growth guide states it flatly. Past that, growth splits by material: levels from Activity Reports, stars from Eleph, skills from Blu-ray discs and Tech Notes, equipment from blueprints and upgrade materials, and Bond from café time, gifts and Momotalk. Pouring everything into one track leaves a student lopsided: level 80 with level-1 skills loses to a balanced build ten levels lower.
Sensei Level: The Cap on Everything
Sensei EXP is paid at 1 EXP per 1 AP spent (Blue Archive Wiki) — every stage, sweep and commission advances it, and raising it lifts your maximum AP alongside the student level cap. The scale is long: by level 70 and above, a full AP bar takes around 20 hours to regenerate from empty, which is exactly what café storage is for. Periodic double Account EXP campaigns are the one time burning saved AP items is clearly correct.
At the level cap, EXP stops being wasted: overflow converts into Mastery Certificates at 1:1, capped at 12,000 per week, exchangeable in a monthly-refreshing shop whose headline items are Eleph for limited students (Blue Archive Wiki).
Student Levels & Activity Reports
Levels are bought with Activity Reports, which come in grades of increasing value. The dedicated source is Commissions → Base Defense (unlocked at mission 1-4), supplemented by campaign sweeps: a stage cleared at 3 stars can be swept for its rewards without replaying it, and Hard stages can be swept three times a day each. Because reports are one shared pool for the whole roster, the official beginner guidance and community guides agree: focus a core team first rather than spreading reports evenly across everyone you own.
Equipment rides along: pieces equip permanently (they cannot be unequipped), level up on fodder materials and Credits, and tier up once they hit their level cap. Gear your core team first, for the same reason — a tier upgrade spent on a benched student is gone.
Stars & Eleph: The Full Math
Star promotion (Unlock Mystic) costs Credits plus the student’s own Eleph. Recruiting a student outright with Eleph, and each promotion step, cost:
| Step | Eleph |
|---|---|
| Recruit a 1★ student | 10 |
| Recruit a 2★ student | 40 |
| Recruit a 3★ student | 120 |
| Promote 1★ → 2★ | 30 |
| Promote 2★ → 3★ | 80 |
| Promote 3★ → 4★ | 100 |
| Promote 4★ → 5★ | 120 |
So a pulled 3★ student needs 220 Eleph to reach 5★, and one recruited from shards needs 340 all-in. The milestones matter more than the stats: 3★ unlocks all of a student’s skills, and 5★ unlocks her Unique Equipment. Eleph sources: Hard campaign stages are the farmable backbone (three runs a day per stage, more with Pyroxene resets); duplicates convert automatically — per EarlyGG’s compensation table, a 3★ duplicate on a regular banner pays 30 of her Eleph plus 50 Eligma, and a featured Pick-Up duplicate pays 100 Eleph; the Eligma shop sells Eleph for students you already own; and raid coin shops (Total Assault and its successors) exchange their coins for featured students’ Eleph alongside skill books and EX discs, in limited per-cycle amounts.
Skills: BDs, Tech Notes & Lessons
Skill levels cap at 5 for the EX skill and 10 for the other three, and each skill family eats different materials. The Bounty modes split them by area (Gameplay.tips): Overpass (Highway) drops Tactical Training Blu-rays for EX skills, Desert Railroad drops Tech Notes for the remaining skills, and Classroom (School Building) drops Artifacts (Ooparts) used across growth. Bounty runs on tickets that refresh daily — an unspent ticket day is skill progress deleted.
Lessons (the Schedule system, unlocked at mission 2-4) are the second faucet: each lesson costs one ticket and pays Bond plus Tech Notes and BDs for the school whose area you visit. Your daily tickets refill to a cap set by your total area rank — 3 tickets at rank 1, growing to 7 at rank 80 — with up to four extra tickets buyable at 30 Pyroxene each (bluearchive.wiki’s Lesson page). Raising area ranks is slow, permanent, ticket-based income: run lessons every day even when the Bond target is minor.
Unique Equipment & Bond
Scrimmage (School Exchange) stages drop the EXP materials that level Unique Equipment (bluearchive.wiki). The UE itself unlocks at 5★, starts at 1★ with a level cap of 30, and ranks up with the student’s Eleph: rank 2 strengthens her passive skill, rank 3 improves a terrain affinity, and rank 4 improves her damage type (Striker) or raises max Cost (Special) — only ranks up to 4★ are currently released. One further door exists at the very top: at 5★ and level 90, a bonus stat system, Ability Release, unlocks (Blue Archive Wiki).
Bond is the quiet track: café head-pats and gifts, Lessons and Momotalk episodes raise it. Bond pays small stat bonuses, unlocks Bond stories — which pay Pyroxene on first read, per the wiki’s Pyroxene page — and at Bond ranks 20 and 25 some students gain extra stat-boosting unlocks (BlueArchive.gg’s café guide). It is slow by design; the café habits in the farming guide are what make it move.
Buying Boosting
Boosting for this game means a pilot playing your account through story, raids or Tactical Challenge — which is why the Blue Archive market page treats it as its own category with buyer-protection advice: take over the linked login immediately and use a password you use nowhere else. Services and account sellers are compared on the Blue Archive page; the currency side is in our farming guide.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why can’t I level my student any higher?
Her level is capped by your Sensei level. Raise it by spending AP — every AP spent pays 1 Sensei EXP — and the student cap rises with it. Double Account EXP campaigns are the fastest windows.
How many Eleph does a 3★ student need to reach 5★?
220: 100 for 3★→4★ and 120 for 4★→5★. If you recruited her from shards in the first place, add the 120 recruitment cost — 340 Eleph all-in.
Where do skill materials come from?
Bounty areas: Overpass for EX-skill Blu-rays, Desert Railroad for Tech Notes, Classroom for Artifacts — plus Lessons, which pay Tech Notes and BDs alongside Bond. Raid coin shops also sell skill books and EX discs.
What should I upgrade first on a new student?
Level her with the core team (reports permitting), then her EX skill — it caps at 5 while other skills cap at 10 — then promote toward 3★ to unlock her full skill set. Save the 5★ push and Unique Equipment for students who have earned a permanent roster spot.
