How Leveling Works Here
Broken Ranks is an isometric MMORPG with fast turn-based combat: each encounter gives you seconds to allocate action points across attacks and defences, and progression comes from spending points on attacks as well as leveling up, per the fan leveling guides. There is no auto-battle and no idle EXP — levels come from completing content, and the content is tasks and kills in roughly equal measure.
The leveling shape, per the MMORPGTips 1–70 guide, is grinding through questlines, activities, monster kills and dungeon runs. Tasks give the lump sums; kills between task cooldowns give the filler. A player who only does tasks waits on cooldowns; a player who only grinds misses the lumps.
The Route: Levels 1 to 30
Levels 1–10: follow story quests and fill with Simon’s task at Trentis’ left exit (dogs), switching at level 5 to Zed’s tasks near the first pet vendor in central Trentis, killing Zeds during cooldowns, per both fan guides. Levels 10–18: move to the Lumberjack’s Forest for the Lumberjack task, killing wild boars and, from 14–15, groups of 2–3 rascals or castle skeletons between refreshes.
Levels 18–22: take the Ogre tasks in the swamp and defeat ogres, avoiding ogre trios solo. Levels 22–30: Mandus’s tasks on the shore above the shipwreck, paired with Ichtion farm runs for EXP and rare drops, with chieftain or cross spider as the alternative grind. From level 28, add the Bandit tasks at the Ruins Tower, which need a group of 2 to start.
Task Cooldowns: The Filler Game
Every task in the route has a cooldown, and the guides’ shared trick is to kill the task’s own mobs during it: Zeds during Zed’s cooldown, boars during the Lumberjack cooldown, ogres during the Ogre cooldown. The filler is not random grinding — it is the same mobs, in the same place, so the next task turn-in costs no travel.
Spend action points deliberately during filler: the combat system rewards holding points rather than spending them all early, especially in long fights, per the LineGames play account. A filler kill that costs all your stamina and mana is a filler kill that slows the next task.
When to Group
Solo play carries the route to the late twenties, but two thresholds need a group: the Bandit tasks from level 28 need a group of 2 to start, and ogre trios and higher group content punish solo attempts. Guilds, raids and PvP open up beyond the leveling route, and the game’s seven classes give groups distinct roles — join a guild before the thresholds, not at them.
Broken Ranks launched on Android in October 2026 with full cross-progression to PC, per MMORPG.com, so the same character and route work on either device. Level where you are; the progress follows.
Common Mistakes
- Waiting on task cooldowns instead of killing the task’s mobs during them.
- Spending all action points early in long fights and running out of stamina or mana.
- Attempting ogre trios or group thresholds solo instead of grouping first.
- Ignoring the story quests that anchor the early route in favour of pure grinding.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the fastest way to level in Broken Ranks?
Tasks plus filler kills: follow the route’s NPC tasks (Simon, Zed, Lumberjack, Ogre, Mandus) and kill the task’s mobs during each task’s cooldown, per the fan leveling guides.
Do you need a group to level in Broken Ranks?
Not until the late twenties: Bandit tasks from level 28 need a group of 2, and ogre trios and group content punish solo attempts. Solo carries levels 1–28.
Is Broken Ranks cross-platform?
Yes — the October 2026 Android launch added full cross-progression with PC on shared servers, per MMORPG.com.
