EA explains the loop: XP comes from practice, completing goals and on-field performance; leveling up grants Skill Points; and Skill Points raise attributes and upgrade abilities. Journeys and Max Potential
Your Journey (Elite, Blue Chip, Contributor or Underdog) sets your starting ratings and Skill Points, and Max Potential, chosen at creation, sets the ceiling for each attribute. Your real ratings start low and grow toward those caps, per Games.gg.
Cap Breakers and Legacy
Cap Breakers let an attribute go past its Max Potential. Games.gg lists up to 25 per career and up to 5 on any one attribute, and notes that Legacy Score from big moments and awards raises your ceilings too, so performing in key games matters as much as grinding drills.
The Weekly Energy Split
Each week you divide limited energy between Academics, Leadership, Health, Fitness and Brand. EA says you need at least a 2.0 GPA to stay on the field, and Games.gg notes that three Mental Abilities are tied to the Academics, Leadership and Brand meters and go dormant if a meter drops. Fitness also affects how fast you progress.
Coach Trust and the Depth Chart
Practice performance raises Coach Trust and Coach Happiness. EA lists what higher trust unlocks: audibles, more playbook plays, a higher depth-chart spot and Position Battles. Your coach’s end-of-season review then decides whether you stay, enter the draft or use the Transfer Portal.
High School and Recruiting
The high school phase is five games with four playable moments each, per Games.gg. Big plays and completed objectives raise your Tape Score, which EA says shapes the scholarship offers you get; offers also pay yearly bonuses, including Skill Points, so compare them before Signing Day.
