Dream League Soccer Leveling Guide: Divisions, Player Training & Club Progression

Dream League Soccer has no character level and no XP bar for your manager. Progression is the club itself, on three tracks that feed each other: your division in Career Mode, the ratings of your players, and your facilities, which determine how much every match pays and how well your squad recovers and develops. This guide climbs the three in the order the game rewards.

Read This First: The Club Is the Character

There is no leveling shortcut in Dream League Soccer that does not pass through matches played. Divisions are won, players develop by playing and by coach training bought with the currencies in our farming guide, and a “maxed club” for sale is a whole account — see the buying guide before treating one as a shortcut.

GamingonPhone’s beginners guide gives the ladder its shape: Career Mode runs through eight divisions, each match paying Season Points and coins, promotion raising both the rewards and the difficulty, and gems arriving as division rewards on the way up. Start in a balanced formation, it advises (its example is 4-4-2), and let results — not signings — drive the early climb.

The Division Climb

Each division is a season’s fixtures against stronger opposition; consistent wins earn promotion, and the guides are unanimous that the reward step matters as much as the prestige: higher divisions pay more coins per match and pay gems that lower divisions do not. That compounding is why a club should push promotion even at some short-term discomfort — a season spent comfortably mid-table in a low division earns less than a hard season one tier up.

Online and Live play sit beside Career as the skill check rather than the ladder: they test the squad Career built, and their rewards feed the same currencies. The development order that follows assumes Career as the spine.

Developing Players: Coaches and Minutes

The player development guide breaks growth into three channels:

MethodCostBest for
Coach trainingCoins / gemsFocused stat boosts on players you field — the high-efficiency route in the guide’s comparison
Match XPFree (playing time)Long-term growth of your starters, who develop by playing
Direct gem upgradesGemsA quick boost for a key player — the fastest and the most expensive route

Its priorities are positional: train the stats the position actually uses, protect stamina (a tired skilled player fades late in matches), and invest in younger players who have growth left rather than veterans near their ceiling. Its mistake list is equally direct: do not waste coaches on bench players you never field, do not spread boosts evenly across all stats, and do not keep training a player whose formation role you have changed out from under them. Match minutes are the free half of this system — a starter develops simply by starting, which is one more reason to settle a first eleven early.

Facilities: The Compounding Track

BlueStacks’ beginners guidance gives gems their first job: stadium and facility upgrades, with the Medical Centre and Commercial Centre named, because they pay long-term benefits — the Commercial Centre raising match income, the Medical Centre keeping the players your other two tracks built available. This is the correct use of the gem trickle from the farming guide: every facility is a permanent raise on all future earnings and availability, while a gem spent on a player is spent once.

The order across the whole club follows: facilities first with gems, signings with coins, coaching on the eleven who play. Run in that order, each division’s rewards fund the next division’s squad.

Buying Progression & Accounts

Progression cannot be transferred piecemeal — a developed club changes hands only as a whole account, which First Touch Games’ terms do not sanction, and whose original owner retains recovery routes. Boosting in the piloted sense barely exists as a category here because the seller would simply be playing your seasons for you. The reviewed market and the legitimate top-up routes are in our Dream League Soccer buying guide and on the game page.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you progress in Dream League Soccer?

As a club, on three tracks: climb the eight Career divisions (each match pays coins and Season Points, promotion raises rewards and pays gems), develop the players who actually play through match XP and coach training, and spend gems on facilities that compound every future reward.

What is the best way to develop players in DLS?

Starters grow free through match XP; coach training, paid in coins or gems, is the focused route for the stats a position uses. The development guide warns against training bench players, spreading boosts across all stats, and spending coaches on veterans with no growth left.

What should gems be spent on first?

Facilities — BlueStacks names stadium upgrades and specifically the Medical Centre and Commercial Centre for their long-term benefits. Gems are the scarce currency; permanent club upgrades outpay one-off player spending.

How many divisions are there in DLS Career Mode?

Eight, per the beginners guide — from the Academy-level start to the elite tier, with rewards and difficulty rising at each promotion.
