Read This First: Three Tracks, One Account
Campaign, classes and ranked are one progression wearing three coats. The campaign teaches and unlocks; Horde classes level in their own mode; ranked converts both into standing. This guide covers the played climb; the service market is covered in our XP farming guide, delivery shapes named.
One patch note frames the whole guide: missing collectibles and rewards are not auto-restored after the October 14 fixes — the notes tell players to re-collect or replay. Progression in this game is partly a record-keeping exercise, and the record is yours to keep.
The Campaign Track: Completion & Collectibles
The campaign is the foundation track: story chapters completed in order, with the War Journal tracking achievements and collectibles across them. The October 14 patch’s campaign list is a map of where completion used to break — unkillable enemies in Act 1 Chapter 1, an elevator stall in Act 5 Chapter 2, co-op and split-screen tracking among the 60-plus fixes — which makes post-patch the right time to run the completion pass, solo or in co-op.
Treat collectibles as a checklist with an expiry on your memory, not the game’s: the patch’s own caveat says what the game fails to record stays unrecorded until you re-collect it.
The Class Track: Four Classes in Horde Siege
Horde Siege’s four classes level on Horde play alone, which makes class progression the most schedulable track in the game: runs are 15 to 30 minutes, repeatable, and they pay account XP beside class XP. Level the class your squad lacks before the one you enjoy most — in a four-player mode, the missing role is the progression bottleneck for four accounts at once, and the player who fills it is never the one waiting for a group.
The October 14 notes fixed an unkillable Corpser in Horde Invasion Events — a reminder that early-season class XP rates were partly set by bugs, and post-patch runs are the honest baseline for judging your pace.
Climbing Without Waste
- Campaign first: its completion and collectibles are one-time progression that every other track assumes.
- Level the missing class, not the favourite — in Horde Siege the unfilled role is the whole squad’s bottleneck.
- Price ranked with the patch in mind: placements from October 13’s launch day sat under a bug fixed on October 14, so early-season standings are softer than they look.
- Season 1 ends December 1, 2026 — sequence the tracks so the seasonal one (ranked) is climbed while it is live.
Buying & Progression
The verified market is set out on our Gears of War: E-Day page: PlayerAuctions and SkyCoach boosting, with piloted delivery flagged where it applies. The XP arithmetic behind those services is in our XP farming guide.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many classes are in Gears of War: E-Day?
Four Horde classes, levelled inside Horde Siege on their own track beside Player Level (cap 100, four Re-Ups). SkyCoach’s and PlayerAuctions’ service tables both treat class leveling as its own purchasable slice, which tells you it is its own grind.
What did the October 14 patch change for progression?
Headlined by the Ranked Versus placement fix — Ranked launched October 13 with a bug that placed some players in the wrong division — plus 60-plus fixes across Campaign (including an Act 5 elevator stall), Horde Siege (an unkillable Corpser) and Versus. One caveat: missing collectibles and rewards are not auto-restored; the notes say to re-collect or replay. Our Patch Watch entry tracks the feed.
When does Season 1 end in E-Day?
December 1, 2026. Ranked standing and seasonal progress are priced against that date by players and sellers alike — a boost bought in November buys weeks less season than the same boost bought in October.
Can you buy an E-Day account instead?
No verified account market exists for this game at our October 2026 check — the verified market is boosting alone, on your own account. An E-Day account is also an Xbox/Microsoft identity with far more than one game hanging from it, which is its own argument against the trade.
