Maple Island (Levels 1 to 10)
- Talk to every NPC and hand in every quest before you leave; the boat from Shanks costs 300 mesos at level 7 and is one way.
- Pio’s quest gives the Green Relaxer chair, which you can only get here.
- Pick the Wooden Club at character creation and switch to the Razor at level 5.
- You start with 25 AP and get 5 per level. Put most into your job’s main stat; points don’t reset on job advancement, and an AP Reset Scroll costs 7,000 NX.
Job Advancements
| Job | Town | Instructor |
|---|---|---|
| Warrior | Perion | Dances With Balrog |
| Magician | Ellinia | Grendel the Really Old |
| Bowman | Henesys | Athena Pierce |

First job is at level 10 and second job at 30, with the same instructor. Taxis are 90% off while you are still a Beginner, so ride to your job’s town before advancing. The launch build has no 3rd job; Nexon will add it after launch.

From MeowDB’s general training guide. It also lists later spots such as Gobies and Sharks “if available”; with Orbis and El Nath not in the launch build, plan around Victoria Island.
A comment on MeowDB’s guide says parts of it describe pre-Big Bang MapleStory rather than Classic World as shipped, and Classic World changes monster EXP, drops and accuracy. Check each map in game.
Class Notes
- Warriors: compact maps with dense mobs, like Pig Beach, Wild Boars and Drakes.
- Mages: Tree That Grew III; pick monsters weak to your element over the highest base EXP.
- Clerics: undead maps, such as Zombie Mushrooms, Jr. Wraiths and Zombie Lupins.
- Bowmen: long horizontal maps where you can hit monsters before they reach you.
- Thieves: compact, mobile maps.
Switch maps when you’re killing too slowly, missing often, overspending on potions or fighting for spawns; changing channel beats waiting.
