Four Tracks, Not One Level
New players often look for one XP bar. PUBG instead runs four separate tracks, and mixing them up is why progress can feel slow even after long sessions.

None of them makes a gun hit harder. What the levels buy is access and rewards. The one hard gate is Ranked, which needs Survival Mastery level 80 plus a Battlegrounds Plus account.
Survival Mastery: To 80 First, Then 500
Survival Mastery arrived in Update 4.3 as the companion to Weapon Mastery. The official notes list four XP situations — looting, using items during combat, combat, and reviving a teammate — and the timeline in Mastery > Last Match replays them, from landing point and vehicle distance to damage and Blue Zone phases survived. The cap is 500, unaffected by seasons.
The fastest honest route to 80 is not hot-dropping. Land where you can loot a full kit without an instant fight on Erangel or Miramar, use heals and boosts during fights, drive rotations instead of running them, and revive whenever it is safe. Those listed actions stack in one long match in a way a 2-minute hot drop never does. Launch coverage notes an emblem roughly every 10 levels, a PUBG ID background on the next 10-level step, a pose every 100 levels, and BP on other levels.
Check the Survival tab before grinding. It rates six traits — engagement length and distance, items looted, distance travelled, hot drop rate and damage taken — and displays your three most prominent. If looting and distance are low, your matches are too short.
Weapon Mastery: Level the Guns You Actually Carry
Weapon Mastery is per weapon, not per class. PUBG Support lists 100 levels per weapon, a tier emblem every 10 levels for 10 tiers, and a charm every five levels. Weapon XP needs damage, headshots or a Defeat — a solo kill, a knock in Duo or Squad, or killing the last standing member of a team. Finishing a knocked player does not count, and neither do friendly fire, road kills, or Blue Zone, Red Zone, fall or drowning damage. Throwables and melee are excluded.
Support also notes Defeats pay extra XP based on distance, and total Weapon XP rises the longer you survive. So pick two primaries you find every game — an assault rifle such as the M416 or AUG and a DMR such as the Mini14 — and take fights you can finish and then survive, rather than spraying with five guns across five short matches.
Ranked After Update 36.1: Crystal, Survivor and One RP Pool
Update 36.1 in June 2025 rebuilt Ranked, and that structure is still the live one heading into the October 2026 Update 43.2 rotation. KRAFTON added two tiers, Crystal between Platinum and Diamond and Survivor at the very top, cut divisions from five to four per tier, added Duo Ranked in all regions, and unified tiers and RP across Duo and Squad and across FPP and TPP, so you now hold a single RP pool instead of a separate rank per queue.

The full 36.1 notes put the RP swing at –44 to +44 per match, with team kills and suicides deducting RP directly. Survivor has no tier protection: a Survivor whose live RP falls below 3,700 drops back to Master. Slots are tiny and regional — for PC, 200 in Asia, 100 in Southeast Asia, 50 each in Europe, Kakao and Russia, and just 5 each in North and South America — so Survivor is a leaderboard race. A steadier goal is Gold or higher, tied in the notes to the Ranked parachute skin reward, with an AWM ranked weapon skin added for Season 36.
Placement is the reliable RP source because early deaths swing hard negative; protect a top-half finish first, then add kills and assists. Since 36.1, all perspectives feed the same pool.
The Survivor Pass: A Separate 4-Week Sprint
The Survivor Pass does not use Survival Mastery XP. Under the system introduced with Survivor Pass: Rondo in Update 27.1, a Pass runs four weeks, has three tracks totalling 30 levels plus a 10-level bonus track, and a maximum level of 70, with XP per level rising after the bonus track. Pass XP comes from daily and weekly missions on the Missions page and from Daily Playtime XP, which also counts Arcade survival time.
Rewards use a second counter: 5 Survivor Points per level up to 30, and 1 per bonus-track level. Tracks unlock in sequence, but inside an unlocked track you can claim in any order and save points for the next track. From level 31 you also get a Contender Medal per level. Daily missions therefore matter more than marathon sessions inside a four-week window.
Boosts and Multipliers That Actually Exist
- Battlegrounds Plus (+100% Survival Mastery XP). The one-time Plus upgrade, priced at $12.99 at the free-to-play launch, doubles Survival Mastery XP and unlocks Ranked, Custom Matches and the Career Medal tab, plus 1,300 G-Coin and the Captain’s Camo set. It does not double Weapon Mastery or Pass XP.
- Survival time. Longer survival raises Weapon XP from the same damage and Defeats, per PUBG Support.
- Defeat distance. Longer-range Defeats pay extra Weapon XP.
- Playtime XP in Arcade. Arcade survival time counts toward Daily Playtime XP under the Rondo system.

Common Mistakes and Where to Go Next
- Hot-dropping every match to “level faster”. Short matches starve Survival Mastery, cut the Weapon Mastery survival bonus, and swing Ranked RP negative.
- Spreading Weapon XP across every gun you pick up. Two weapons levelled deep beat ten weapons stuck at low tiers and early charms.
- Treating Pass level, Survival level and Ranked tier as the same thing. Each has its own XP, its own cap and its own reset — or, for Mastery, no reset at all.
- Ignoring daily Pass missions early in the four weeks, then trying to buy back the gap. Level-up items in the Rondo system only work up to level 30.
- Queueing Ranked at 80 without learning its ruleset. Since 36.1, Ranked includes Recall, Red Zone, BRDM-2 flare calls, Tactical Pack and Zipline Gun from Normal matches — but early deaths still cost RP.
