What the Terms Say
NetEase Games' Terms of Use for Identity V (version dated December 15, 2024) cover accounts in §2.1: “You may not share, sell or transfer your account as well as any of your rights or obligations under these Terms to anyone else or share your account information with others without our prior consent.” §3.1 reinforces it: the licence is “personal, revocable, non-assignable, non-sublicensable, non-transferable.”
§4.5(d) then bans, unless expressly permitted, transferring Virtual Points or Virtual Goods in any way once purchased, “including but not limited to attempting to trade the Virtual Points or Virtual Goods within our Services with real money/real items via any third-party platforms” — a defined term, “Real Money Trading”, or “RMT”, that also covers advertising or brokering such trades. §5.2 makes Echoes exactly such a Virtual Point: a personal, non-transferable licence with no real-world monetary value, which “cannot be sold, sublicensed, traded, transferred, or exchanged for money or other consideration”. §8.1 sets the remedies: removing content, rolling back data, restricting access, or terminating the account.
The Official Routes
NetEase runs the official top-up centre itself: GamesClub at pay.neteasegames.com/identityv/topup. You enter your Game ID (UID) and server, pick a package, and pay by card, PayPal, local wallets or a NetEase Pay gift card — no game password is ever handed over. Denominations run from 60 + 6 bonus Echoes at $0.99 to 6,590 + 659 at $99.99, with member discounts and points on top. The app stores sell the same Echoes in-game. The reviewed sellers on the Identity V game page deliver through these same official-centre rails or as NetEase Pay redeem codes; a seller who needs your password is using neither.
What Can Go Wrong
- Negative Echoes. Under §5.3, if your Echo balance goes negative, NetEase may restrict your access to the game until the balance is repaid. That is the documented end-state of chargeback-funded “proxy” top-ups: the seller's payment reverses after you have spent the Echoes, the debt lands on your account, and accounts with unpaid negative balances face escalating suspensions.
- A bought account breaches §2.1 by existing. The transfer itself is the offence, and recovery runs through the original login binding (NetEase account, Apple or Google) — which the seller created and can reclaim.
- The wardrobe is the value, and the easiest thing to fake. Most of an account's price is limited and crossover S-tier costumes that never return to the shop. Borrowed screenshots are the standard trick; only an in-game wardrobe check counts.
- Region and login binding strand accounts. Listings split by server region and login type. An account on a region you don't play, or bound to a login you don't fully control, is worth a fraction of its listing price.
- No RMT ban wave — on the record so far. NetEase publishes penalty waves for cheating, smurfing and toxic behaviour, not for RMT; the top-up enforcement on record is the negative-balance system. That is a gap in visible enforcement, not permission: §4.5(d) names the conduct.
Red Flags to Avoid
- “Echoes delivered from my account to yours” — no transfer function exists in Identity V.
- Per-Echo prices far below the GamesClub denominations — the stock behind them is usually chargeback-funded, and the debt becomes yours.
- Any top-up that asks for your account password instead of your UID and server.
- Costume wardrobes shown only as screenshots the seller won't verify in game.
- Sellers who refuse marketplace escrow or push payment off-platform.
Buying Checklist
- Benchmark every price against GamesClub first (60 + 6 Echoes at $0.99 up to 6,590 + 659 at $99.99) — it is the official rate card.
- Prefer UID-only delivery through the official centre; never share your password or login codes for a top-up.
- If you buy an account regardless: full login transfer at handover, change the password immediately, and verify the wardrobe in game before escrow releases.
- Match the account's region and login binding to how you actually play.
- Keep payment inside marketplace escrow (PlayerGuardian, Eldorado protection) and keep the order records.
The Safe Alternatives
The free Echo supply is thin but real: events, redemption codes, daily missions and the season Logic Path drip Echoes and Fragments without spending. If you do spend, GamesClub is the one route NetEase itself operates, with member pricing the app stores don't offer. The reviewed sellers on the Identity V game page are listed for comparison; this guide's bottom line is that top-ups should flow through NetEase's own rails, and accounts are banned by the document that governs them.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you buy Identity V Echoes from other players?
No. Identity V has no trading, gifting of balances or player marketplace, so Echoes stay on the account that bought or earned them. They reach an account only by topping that account up — officially at NetEase’s GamesClub centre or in the app stores. A “player-to-player Echo” offer is an account sale or a scam.
What are negative Echoes?
Under §5.3 of NetEase’s Terms, if your Echo balance goes negative NetEase may restrict your access until it is repaid. It is what happens when a chargeback-funded “proxy” top-up reverses after you have spent the Echoes: the debt lands on your account.
Are SEAGM or Eldorado Identity V top-ups official?
They are resellers, not NetEase. The legitimate ones deliver through NetEase’s official-centre rails or as NetEase Pay redeem codes credited by UID; the official route itself is GamesClub. NetEase’s Terms don’t publish a reseller list — what they ban is RMT (§4.5(d)) and fraudulent payment methods (§4.5(e)).
What makes an Identity V account worth $2,000?
The wardrobe: limited and crossover S-tier costumes that never return to the shop, backed by A-tier costumes, S-tier accessories, a deep Hunter/Survivor roster and rank. IGVault’s 23 or so listings on our October 2026 check topped out at $2,399 — verify any wardrobe in game before paying for it.
