Clash of Clans Resource & Ore Farming Guide (2026)

Farming in Clash of Clans changed a lot between 2024 and 2026. Training is gone, ores matter, the Gold Pass was rebuilt and star bonuses were raised. This guide goes through each change in the order Supercell shipped it.

Read This First

Clash of Clans has no trading, and we could not read Supercell's own loot-mechanics support pages. That means this guide gives no loot percentages, no storage-protection figures and no “best farming base” layouts, because we would be repeating third-party numbers we could not check. What we can document accurately is everything Supercell announced in release notes since 2024, which is what really changed how you farm.

For how the Town Hall ladder works, see the Town Hall progression guide.

The Resources, Briefly

Per Wikipedia (Reported): Gold and Elixir fund buildings, defenses and collectors. Dark Elixir unlocks at Town Hall 7 and upgrades dark troops, heroes and spells. Gems are the premium currency, earned through achievements or real money. Three ores (Shiny, Glowy and Starry) upgrade hero equipment. Supercell's Clan Capital page (Confirmed) adds two more: Capital Gold, and Raid Medals.

Every Farming-Relevant Change, in Order

UpdateWhat it did to farming

September 2024Raised Dark Elixir league bonuses and storage loot percentages across most leagues. Added Supercharges at Town Hall 16+ and the Treasure Hunt event with Magic Snacks.
March 2025 (Clash Anytime)Removed training time and hero healing. Donations now cost Elixir or Dark Elixir.
June 16, 2025 (Let's Get Crafty)Reduced hitpoints of Gold Mines, Elixir Collectors and Storages for early game. Added Crafted Defenses at Town Hall 17 and the Cookbook from Town Hall 10.
February 23, 2026Gold Pass rework from March 1, Hoggy Bank, the Prospector, and a permanent fix for the “Ore Bug.”

Every row above comes from Supercell's own release notes (Confirmed).

What Clash Anytime Did to Farming

Supercell's release notes say troops, spells and siege machines no longer require training and heroes no longer need to be healed. That removes the downtime between raids. The notes also say that donations to clanmates now cost Elixir or Dark Elixir depending on the unit, that the donation request cooldown is 10 minutes, and that bases get clones while shielded: defenders do not lose resources or trophies from clone attacks, but attackers do gain rewards. Real player bases get priority in matchmaking.

Our reading: the limit on how much you can farm is no longer how long your army takes to train. It is how many targets you can find and how much Elixir you spend on donations. The notes do not quantify the effect, so we do not either.

The April 2026 Economy Changes

The Sound of Clash notes (Confirmed) say Star Bonuses were slightly increased across Gold, Elixir, Dark Elixir and all ores, with better scaling at the newest Town Halls, and that League Bonuses improved when advancing leagues. Ranked battle loot was decreased slightly to balance it. Multiple upgrades received reduced time and resource costs.

The notes also split Legend League into three tiers. Legend III has 24 weekly battles, Legend II has 30 weekly battles, and Legend I has 8 daily battles over 4 weeks. Inactivity demotion now takes 4 weeks instead of 1. If you farm in ranked, the battle count you owe each week is part of the cost.

Ores and the Prospector

Hero equipment is upgraded with the three ores. Supercell's February 2026 notes say the Gold Pass now has a Daily Task system, Choice Nodes that let you pick your reward, and a Hoggy Bank with a 5x payout multiplier in place of size upgrades. The new helper, the Prospector, converts limited ore daily: up to 2,000 Shiny, 120 Glowy or 2 Starry. PocketGamer says it is available at Town Hall 10 and above. The notes also say the Ore Bug was permanently fixed with excess earnings revoked, so older advice about ore exploits is out of date.

The conversion limits matter more than the pass price. Two Starry ore per day is the lowest of the three limits, so check it against what your equipment needs before paying for a pass.

Clan Capital: A Separate Economy

Supercell's Capital page says you need a Clan at level 2 or higher and Town Hall 6. Capital Gold pays for all capital upgrades and ruin restoration, and upgrades there are instant. Sources of Capital Gold: the Forge (unlocked at Town Hall 6) for small daily amounts, converting Home Village and Builder Base resources, Capital Raid Weekends, and Season Challenges or events. Raid Medals, earned from raids based on destruction and defense, are spent at the Trader or to self-donate Clan Castle troops. If you leave a clan mid-weekend you keep earned Capital Gold and Raid Medals, but resources you invested stay behind.

The August 2026 notes add that the Capital Treasury contribution window no longer closes after you donate gold and shows your clan's cumulative totals live.

New Players and the Pass Test

Supercell's August 2026 release notes describe a test rolling out in September 2026. The Starter Pass is retired and replaced with Season Challenges beginning at Town Hall 3. The Gold Pass is available to buy from Town Hall 3, and pass rewards scale with your Town Hall level. We cannot say yet how this settles, since it is labeled a test.

A Farming Routine From the Facts

  1. Raid without fear of downtime. Training is gone, so attacks are limited by targets, not queues.
  2. Take the pass seriously only if you need ore. Compare the Prospector's daily limit with your equipment queue.
  3. Use the Forge and Capital Raids for Capital Gold instead of spending home resources.
  4. Keep Elixir for donations if your clan asks for troops, since donations now cost resources.
  5. Re-read the update notes after each balance patch. The July patch did not touch loot, but April did.
