Town Hall 3 to 9: The Foundation
The biggest early change is announced, not built: Supercell's August 2026 notes say the Starter Pass is retired and replaced by Season Challenges from Town Hall 3, with Gold Pass available from the same level and rewards scaling to your Town Hall. It is described as a September 2026 test. By Town Hall 6 you can reach the Clan Capital and the Forge, and at 7 you get Dark Elixir. Supercell's June 2025 notes also lowered the hitpoints of Gold Mines, Elixir Collectors and Storages to speed up the early game, and its 2024 notes cut upgrade costs and times at many levels.
Town Hall 10 to 14: The Builder's Apprentice Years
Town Hall 10 unlocks the Builder's Apprentice for 500 Gems, which speeds a builder upgrade for 1 hour every 23 hours and upgrades to level 8 (Confirmed), plus the Cookbook, a tab on the Army Training screen with starter and creator army recipes. The Prospector from the Gold Pass also starts here per PocketGamer. At Town Hall 14 you get the Druid, a ground healer that shapeshifts into a bear, and the Ice Block spell. Hard Mode, an opt-in harder Friendly Challenge, arrived in June 2024.
Town Hall 15 to 18: Heroes, Supercharges and Pets
This range has the most feature unlocks. Dragon Duke is the sixth hero, at Town Hall 15 and above, and its rage ability doubles as its identity: Supercell says that when no other flying troops are nearby he becomes enraged and takes half damage from traps. At 16 you get Supercharges, optional building buffs capped at three per building (Confirmed). At 17, Crafted Defenses let you build up to three temporary defenses on the Crafting Station, rotating roughly every three months. At 18, Supercell lists the Greedy Raven pet, which prioritizes resource buildings and deals 5x damage to them, Diggy pet levels 11 to 15, and Supercharges for the Builder's Hut and Monolith.
The July 2026 balance update says dragon armies were around 20% of TH18 attacks, and that Dragon and Thrower-Healer armies together made up about 40% of war attacks. The update trimmed Dragon Duke, Dragon Rider and Logger and buffed Electro Dragon, Meteor Golem and Druid.
Ranked Mode and Legend Tiers
As of April 27, 2026, Legend League is divided into Legend I, II and III with different battle schedules: 24 weekly battles for III, 30 weekly for II, and 8 daily battles over 4 weeks for I. Inactivity demotion takes 4 weeks. The February update had earlier reduced battle-count requirements in higher leagues by up to 6 and rebalanced promotion and demotion percentages. Clan War Leagues gained four new leagues: Titan III, II and I, and Legend. In August, Titan I to III now use Legend II to III modifiers instead of Legend I to II.
The Builder Base
Wikipedia says Builder Base launched in May 2017 and was restructured as Builder Base 2.0 in May 2023 with sequential two-stage battles and Builder Hall 10 as the current top level. We found no 2026 Builder Base progression changes in the notes we read.
A Sensible Order
- Check what a Town Hall adds before upgrading it. The unlock table shows features arrive at specific levels, and each new level also brings new costs.
- Join a clan by Town Hall 6 to use Capital Raids and the Forge.
- Buy the Builder's Apprentice at Town Hall 10 only if you have the Gems, since the saved time is 1 hour per day.
- At 15+, plan for Dragon Duke equipment and ores.
- Check each balance update before committing to one army.
Common Mistakes
- Copying a TH17 farming guide at TH18. The Greedy Raven and new Supercharges changed the picture.
- Ignoring ranked battle counts. Legend III costs 24 battles a week.
- Treating the pass test as permanent. Supercell labels the Season Challenges rollout as a test.
