Read This First: There Is No Currency to Farm
No currency market exists for Heroes of the Storm. Anyone selling “HotS gold” or “gem delivery” is selling a product this game’s market does not contain. The verified products are accounts (2 PlayerAuctions offers, priced on rosters and ranked history) and boosting — which is LOGIN delivery, Account Training on your own credentials, flagged in our buying guide. The value those products price is built below, by playing.
PlayerAuctions’ accounts copy names the value precisely: accounts pitch on skins and cosmetics — Portraits, Sprays, Banners, Emojis, Voice Lines, Announcer Packs and mounts — with reviews naming ranked history (NA accounts at Gold, Platinum and Silver ranks in the fetched reviews). Roster breadth, cosmetic depth, ranked standing: three accumulations of play, and nothing else on the price tag.
The Roster: Breadth Is the Base Value
Heroes are the account’s foundation: a roster that can fill any role is worth more — in ranked flexibility and in listing value alike — than a deep bench in one role. Build breadth deliberately: unlock and learn heroes across the roles, so drafts never strand you, and so the account’s hero pool (91 heroes deep after Patch 57 added Xal’atath) is a collection you can actually play rather than a list you own.
Xal’atath’s arrival (Patch 57, September 28, 2026 — the first new hero since Hogger in December 2020, at a $7.99 unlock with a gold option tentatively planned in the reporting) is the roster’s current event: a new hero is new value to build and new matchups to learn, for owners and buyers alike. A roster kept current with the game’s additions is the version of this asset that holds its price.
Cosmetics and Ranked History: The Other Two Layers
Cosmetics are the visible layer — skins, mounts and the long tail of Portraits, Sprays, Banners, Emojis, Voice Lines and Announcer Packs the accounts page names. They accumulate through play and the game’s own systems over time, and their value is depth and rarity of collection rather than any single piece: an account’s wardrobe is a history. Build it by playing the content that pays it, across events and seasons of your own account’s life, rather than chasing any one item.
Ranked history is the earned layer: a standing built over seasons of ranked play, named in the account reviews by league and region. It cannot be stockpiled in a session — it is, by design, a record — which is precisely why listings price it and why the boosting product that fakes it requires your login to do so. Our leveling guide covers climbing it properly.
The Live Context: A Game That Just Woke Up
Context matters to value here. Heroes of the Storm entered maintenance mode on July 8, 2022 and stayed there for years; roughly monthly balance and bugfix patches resumed from September 2023, and Patch 57 in September 2026 — a full new hero, announced at BlizzCon — is reported as officially exiting maintenance mode. One patch does not prove a cadence, as our buying guide keeps repeating, but it changes what building an account means: progress made now is made in a live game again, with a possible 92nd hero already teased in the reporting.
Farm accordingly: the highest-value play right now is current play — the new hero learned, the current ranked season climbed, the returning population’s queues filled. An account built during a revival is built in the game’s most active window in years.
Buying Accounts & Boosting
The verified market is PlayerAuctions only: accounts (2 offers at our check, under PlayerGuardian escrow, verified in game before release) and boosting — LOGIN delivery by Account Training, which this guide flags rather than recommends. Both are covered in full in our Heroes of the Storm buying guide. See also the Heroes of the Storm page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you farm currency in Heroes of the Storm?
There is no tradable currency to farm or buy — no currency market exists for this game. Account value is the hero and skin roster and ranked history, all accumulated by playing.
What are Heroes of the Storm accounts priced on?
Hero and skin rosters and ranked history: the accounts page pitches skins and cosmetics (Portraits, Sprays, Banners, Emojis, Voice Lines, Announcer Packs, mounts), and its reviews name ranked NA accounts by league. PlayerAuctions listed just 2 offers at our check.
Is Heroes of the Storm still in maintenance mode?
Patch 57 (v2.57.0, September 28, 2026) added Xal’atath — the 91st hero, the first since Hogger in December 2020 — and is reported as officially exiting the maintenance mode that began July 8, 2022. One patch is not yet a proven cadence.
Is HotS boosting safe?
It is LOGIN delivery: PlayerAuctions’ own copy says the most common method is Account Training, where you provide your account login details to a PowerLeveler. That is the risk, stated plainly — our buying guide flags it in full.
