SWG Legends Server Profile

SWG Legends recreates the post-2005 New Game Enhancements version of Star Wars Galaxies — the streamlined class-based era that ran until Sony Online Entertainment shut the game down in 2011. It's the server to pick if your SWG memories are from Jedi, Bounty Hunter, and Smuggler classes rather than the earlier skill-based system.

Wipe & Reset History

According to the project's own admin interview, SWG Legends (originally called Reborn) was almost completely wiped about three months into its original run due to a falling-out among the small founding team. The project has run without a full wipe since it stabilized afterward; a 2016-era incident rolled back roughly 36 hours of play-time on its Omega server rather than wiping it entirely.

Wipe and reset policies can change with new server launches. Check the official site linked above for the current status.

Getting Started on SWG Legends

New to SWG Legends? Here's the general process for jumping in — always defer to the official site's own instructions, since exact steps vary by server.

1
Visit the official site. Go to swglegends.com to confirm the server is currently active and find the current client or launcher download.
2
Download the client or launcher. Most private servers distribute their own patched client or a launcher that patches a base game install. Use the download linked directly from the official site rather than third-party mirrors.
3
Create an account and log in. Registration is typically free. Use a unique password you don't reuse elsewhere — private servers don't carry the account-security infrastructure of an official publisher.

Steps are general guidance, not a promise of a specific process for SWG Legends. Confirm current details on the official site linked above.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it safe and legal to play on a private server?

Private servers exist in a legal gray area — most operate under community reverse-engineering or emulation projects rather than an official license, with some exceptions. SWG Legends has been running long enough to build a track record; as with any private server, use a unique password and don't reuse account credentials from other sites.

How do I get started on SWG Legends?

Visit the official website at https://swglegends.com/ for the current client download and setup instructions. Most private servers provide their own launcher or patched client separate from the original retail game.
