Moonlight Blade Leveling Guide: Story EXP, Gear, Skills & Partners

Leveling in Moonlight Blade was really two projects: a character level pulled upward by the story, and a power level assembled from gear, skills, partners and careers underneath it. The global servers closed in May 2026; this is the documented map of how progression worked, built from the beginner-guide record and official notices rather than hindsight.

Two Ladders: Level and Power

Moonlight Blade’s global servers shut down in May 2026 — see our Moonlight Blade status page. This guide documents the progression systems as they operated while the game was live.

Your character level came overwhelmingly from questing, and your Combat Power — the number content actually checked — came from systems stacked on top of the level: gear enhancement and refinement, skill upgrades, partner bonds and career growth. Official notices show Combat Power acting as a real gate: INFIPLAY’s event notes describe an event stage whose entry requirement was reworked precisely because players’ combat power did not meet it. A player who only chased levels arrived at those gates underpowered; the guides of the era all say the same thing in different words — progress the story, but build everything under it as you go.

The Main Quest Is the Leveling Route

Every beginner source agrees: the Main Quest is the fastest way to level. LDCloud’s beginner guide puts it bluntly — main quests “will also grant you valuable materials that you can use to get better quickly,” and without progressing them “you will be stuck at a certain level.” GamingOnPhone’s power guide reaches the same verdict from the other side: the storyline mode provides more growth than any other mode, and beginners progress fastest at the start by simply following it.

Treat the story as a conveyor: it pays EXP and materials, unlocks systems in sequence, and its difficulty curve is tuned to a character who has been keeping up with gear and skills. When the story walls you, the answer is rarely more story attempts — it is the side systems in the next sections, then back to the conveyor.

Jianghu & Adventure: The Filler That Isn’t Filler

The Jianghu and Adventure quest streams are where leveling continues when the Main Quest pauses. GamingOnPhone describes all three quest types as the growth toolkit — Jianghu and Adventure missions let “your character upgrade faster along with collecting in-game resources” — while LDCloud notes Adventures also unlock new levels of content, character abilities and limited-edition materials.

Adventures deserve their menu time for a second reason: they are where the game teaches and unlocks its own systems. Skipping them to save ten minutes today regularly cost players an unlocked feature tomorrow. The efficient loop was story until friction, Adventures and Jianghu until the friction eased, then story again.

Gear, Refinement & Skills: Where Power Actually Comes From

GamingOnPhone’s power guide names the pairing directly: “Gears and Skills are the most important entities of the game” — gear carries your defensive stats so you can survive incoming damage, and upgraded skills carry your damage output. The same guide adds a humble workhorse: HP upgrades, applied through potions in the Character section, are called out as a regular habit rather than an afterthought.

Official reward tables show the material ladder this system ate: Refinement materials (the Treasure in City event paid Lv.6 Refinement material), Forging Element II, Masterforging Option Giftboxes and Supreme Mastery Optional Gifts. You do not need the full item taxonomy to learn the lesson those tables teach — enhancement was tiered, materials were the bottleneck, and the Silver economy in our farming guide existed to feed exactly this ladder. Upgrade in step with the story; a level-appropriate character in refined gear out-progresses a higher-level one in starter kit.

Partners: The Bond Lineup

Moonlight Blade’s companions are a progression system, not decoration. GamingOnPhone advises building bonds with your partners deliberately: strong bonds produce “some of the best partners,” and the resulting lineup can be taken into tough storyline missions, where the partner team “makes a great team and can easily knock out” villains a solo character struggles with.

Partners also have their own gear track — official event rewards include Supreme Partner Equipment Blueprints and Champion Summon Orders, the summoning currency for the partner roster. Investment order followed the usual logic: bonds and equipment for the partners who actually field in your lineup first, collection breadth later.

Careers: The Parallel Progression Track

The seven Careers — Bounty Hunter, Chef, Constable, Escort Master, Ranger, Scholar and Skystar — level independently of your character, per the community wiki. Career levels unlock “bonuses buffs as well as items and outfits,” and career tasks supply materials that help level your character, making careers the one system that feeds both ladders at once.

The constraint is Vigor: refilled daily at server reset, topped up by Vigor Pills (+250, limited to 15 uses per week, 30 accumulated). Career progress was therefore a daily habit with a weekly ceiling — the players who treated it as optional endgame trivia left buffs, items and materials permanently unclaimed. Pick careers that match how you play; a Bounty Hunter’s and a Scholar’s task lists ask very different things of your session time.

Buying Leveling & Accounts

There is no legitimate version of this purchase left: the game shut down in May 2026, so a “boosted” Moonlight Blade account is an account on servers that no longer exist. Our Moonlight Blade page remains up as a status record so searchers get that answer straight. For how the character you built was funded while the game lived, see our Silver farming guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

What was the fastest way to level up in Moonlight Blade?

The Main Quest. Both the LDCloud beginner guide and GamingOnPhone’s power guide identify story progression as the fastest growth route — it pays EXP and upgrade materials together, and the game is structured so that ignoring it leaves you stuck at a level wall. Jianghu and Adventure quests filled the gaps between story beats.

What raised Combat Power besides level?

Gear enhancement and refinement (fed by a tiered material ladder: Refinement materials, Forging Elements, Masterforging and Supreme Mastery items), skill upgrades, regular HP upgrades, partner bonds and partner equipment, and career levels with their unlockable buffs. Combat Power mattered because official event notices show it being used as an entry requirement.

How did partners work in Moonlight Blade?

Partners are companions you bond with and field as a lineup in storyline missions. GamingOnPhone advises building bonds to unlock the best partners; official event rewards include Champion Summon Orders (partner summoning) and Supreme Partner Equipment Blueprints, showing partners had both a roster and a gear track.

Is Moonlight Blade still playable?

No. The global servers shut down in May 2026. These guides are kept as a record of how the game’s leveling and economy worked; there is no live game to level in, and no legitimate market for accounts or currency.
