Tower of Fantasy Leveling Guide: Dimension Levels, Weapons & Matrices

Progression in Tower of Fantasy is three ladders that pretend to be one. Your Wanderer level rises on EXP; your Dimension Level is a world-difficulty dial you raise by hand and get paid for; and your real power lives in weapons and matrices, which level on their own materials and stall at hard gates. This guide separates the three, because the question “why am I stuck?” has a different answer on each ladder.

Read This First: The Daily Caps Are History

The famous launch-era daily level caps no longer pace the game. At the 2022 launch your Wanderer level was hard-capped by account age — level 18 on day 1, 24 on day 2, rising to the then-cap of 70 only on day 88 (GameRant’s schedule) — and EXP earned past the cap was simply lost. The modern game replaced that with Dimension Levels and a Reserve EXP Pool that banks overflow instead of deleting it. Returning players working from launch guides should re-learn the system below.

What a Wanderer level still does: it raises your base stats and Combat Score (CS), unlocks features, and — most importantly — gates your gear. Weapon augmentation tiers unlock relative to your Wanderer level, so a weapon can be material-ready and still capped until your account catches up. Leveling is therefore paced by EXP sources (next section) and by the Dimension Level dial, not by the calendar.

Wanderer EXP and the Reserve Pool

EXP comes from the main story first and everything else second: main and side missions, clearing ruins, defeating bosses, daily bounties, and the activities you spend Vitality on all feed the same bar (Game8’s progression guides list story, ruins, bounties and Vitality spending as the core EXP diet). Story is deliberately the richest source — the game wants you progressing the campaign, and side content fills the gaps between chapters.

The catch-up mechanics are the part launch guides miss, and both come from the wiki’s Dimension Level documentation. When your Wanderer level is far below your Dimension Level, EXP gains are multiplied, so a lagging account accelerates toward the world level. And EXP from main missions, side missions and ruins that would overflow your current ceiling is stored in a Reserve EXP Pool rather than discarded: the pool has no time limit, and its cap rises as you level. Never skip story missions out of fear of “wasting” EXP at a cap — the game banks it now.

Dimension Level: The Dial You Raise by Hand

Your Dimension Level starts at 10 and is raised in steps, at your choice, toward 100. It sets the level of enemies everywhere in the world (and in instances such as Frontier Clash and Void Rifts), unlocks each region’s Advanced Password Chests, and improves password chest loot as it climbs — the wiki notes batteries and Matrix data packs from chests increase by 50% at Dimension 60 and 100% at 80, with accessory odds climbing far higher. Each raise also pays a one-time reward:

Dimension LevelRecommended CSOne-time reward highlights (wiki)
10—Starting level; first Advanced Password Chests
305,000Gold Nucleus ×5, weapon augmentation boxes
6036,000Gold Nucleus ×5, Weapon Battery IV; chest battery/data-pack yields +50%
8066,000Red Nucleus ×2, Weapon Battery IV; chest yields +100%
10092,000Advancement/Booster modules; chest yields +150%

Two cautions from the same documentation. Raising the dial makes world enemies — including world bosses, whose levels sync up to it — permanently stronger, and the game itself warns you if your CS is far under the recommended value. And while you can lower the dial again, downgrading costs Dark Crystals, charged per step (20 → 15 → 10 and so on); rewards are claimable once only, so there is no farm in yo-yoing it. Raise it when your CS is near the recommendation, bank the nuclei, and move on.

Weapons: Enhance, Augment, Advance

Weapons level independently of your Wanderer, on their own fodder. Enhancement feeds a weapon Weapon Batteries as EXP — the battery tiers (I through IV) are the standard reward from password chests, Dimension Level rewards and Vitality modes — and every level raises the weapon’s primary stats. Per the wiki, enhancement runs in 10-level blocks: at each block boundary the weapon stops and must be augmented before it can gain further levels.

Augmentation consumes element-matched augmentation materials (the core-type materials gathered from crystal ore spots in the world and fused up into higher tiers), raises the level cap by another 10, and increases all of the weapon’s skill levels by 1. At higher enhancement levels, augmentation is additionally restricted until your Wanderer level rises — this is the gate that makes account level matter to gear. The third system, Advancement, is the star ladder: a duplicate weapon (converted into its advancement material) plus Gold raises the weapon by one star, unlocking extra abilities, up to a maximum of 6 stars — seven copies of a weapon to max it, per the GameA weapons guide. Focus batteries on the three weapons you actually field; a wide bench of half-fed weapons is the classic mid-game wall.

Matrices and Equipment

Each weapon carries four Matrix slots (Mind, Memory, Belief, Emotion). Matrices are enhanced with Matrix Data Packs — the I–IV packs that drop from Joint Operations, chests and Dimension Level rewards — and each level raises the stats the piece grants. They are advanced with an identical duplicate Matrix, which increases their stat growth rate and raises the potency of set bonuses once the set conditions are met; matching 2-piece and 4-piece sets is where most of a matrix loadout’s value sits, so enhance toward completing sets rather than spreading packs across single pieces.

Equipment (armor) comes chiefly from Joint Operations and is upgraded and advanced with its own materials; Game8’s mode list is blunt about the division of labour — Joint Operation for armor and matrices, the other Vitality modes for weapon materials and Gold. Your CS (Combat Score) is the sum the game checks: Game8’s CS guide ties it to Wanderer level, equipped weapon and matrix quality, gear, and your Suppressor — the device you upgrade with materials gathered as you progress, which is also what lets you explore regions with harsher conditions. If a Dimension Level raise warns you about CS, the fix is almost always gear-side, not more EXP.

Vitality: Where the Daily 180 Goes

Vitality is the stamina that pays out the Adventure modes. The cap is 180, regenerating at 1 per 8 minutes — a full bar a day (GamerTweak’s Vitality guide) — and a Vitality Solution restores 60, bought with Dark Crystals, which is a poor trade covered in the farming guide. Running a Joint Operation costs nothing; the Vitality is charged when you open its boss chests, at 30 Vitality per chest (wiki). The rest of the Select menu charges 30 per use as well, per Game8’s mode list:

ModeVitalityPays out
Joint Operation (boss chests)30 per chestEquipment (armor) and Matrices
Interstellar Exploration30 per StargateWeapon enhancement materials
Omnium Beacon30 per beaconWeapon enhancement materials
Dimensional Trials30 per runEnhancement materials (mode rewards)
Spacetime Domain30 per runGold

Spend against your current bottleneck: armor and matrix pieces from Joint Operation chests while gearing, weapon materials from Interstellar Exploration and Dimensional Trials while augmenting, and Spacetime Domain only when Gold — the quiet tax on every enhancement and advancement — runs dry.

Buying Boosting & Accounts

Piloted leveling and geared accounts are sold for this game, and the account is the asset: a bought account’s value is its limited weapons at their star levels and its matrix sets, not its Wanderer level, which the catch-up systems now rebuild quickly. MMODude has not published a standalone buying guide for Tower of Fantasy yet; reviewed account marketplaces and Tanium sellers are compared on the Tower of Fantasy page, and the currency those accounts are priced around is covered in our Dark Crystal farming guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the max Wanderer level in Tower of Fantasy?

The launch-era ceiling of 70 — reached only on day 88 under the old daily caps — is history. The current pacing system is Dimension Level, which runs from 10 to 100 and gates world difficulty and chest loot; Wanderer leveling runs into the Dimension Level’s catch-up band, and gear augmentation unlocks track your Wanderer level as it climbs.

Why is my weapon stuck at level 10, 20 or 30?

Weapon enhancement works in 10-level blocks. At each boundary the weapon must be augmented with element-matched augmentation materials, which raises its cap by 10 and adds +1 to its skill levels. At higher blocks, augmentation also waits on your Wanderer level — if the materials are in your bag and it still won’t move, account level is the gate.

What is the Reserve EXP Pool?

Overflow insurance from the Dimension Level system: EXP from main missions, side missions and ruins that would exceed your current ceiling is stored in the pool instead of being lost. Stored EXP has no time limit and the pool’s cap rises as you level, per the wiki — so story progress is never wasted at a cap.

Where should I spend Vitality first?

On your bottleneck. Joint Operation boss chests (30 Vitality each) for equipment and matrices while gearing; Interstellar Exploration and Dimensional Trials (30 each) for weapon enhancement materials while augmenting; Spacetime Domain (30) when Gold runs short. Vitality caps at 180 and refills fully in a day, so an unspent bar is the only real waste.
