RuneScape: Reignited
Jagex’s RuneFest announcement dates RuneScape: Reignited for December 2, 2026. It is a permanent new character type with a fresh economy and new HiScores, launched alongside the Adventure Guide and the next stage of the game’s remaster. Nerdly reports that existing characters are now called Veteran characters, that the two types cannot trade with each other or share boss instances, and that each has its own Grand Exchange, so Reignited prices are set only by Reignited players. Reignited characters cannot buy progression. Jagex says Reignited access without membership runs from December 2 to 12.
Update: Jagex is rethinking Reignited
Three days after RuneFest, Jagex posted that it is “re-evaluating RuneScape Reignited”, apologizing to existing players for making them feel they were “no longer our focus” and saying every option remained on the table. Its October 9 end-of-week update listed options rather than decisions: shortening or removing the Reignited-only worlds, loosening the restrictions between Veteran and Reignited characters once the new economy has found its feet, letting existing members toggle a character to Reignited without paying for separate membership, and carrying cosmetics, extra bank space and some titles over. Reignited would keep its own economy and progression, according to Massively OP. As of October 10 the RuneScape Wiki still listed the December 2 launch. We will update this story when Jagex confirms the final rules.
Old School: a raid and Hardcore Worlds
The Fractured Archive, Old School’s new end-game raid, releases on October 20. Jagex’s guide says it needs While Guthix Sleeps, scales from two to eight players, and is not open to limited accounts at release. Its uniques include tradeable items such as the Zeal prayer unlock, the Rondache shield, Zorya’s Tome and Ascension crossbows, and Jagex says regular loot is meant to sit just below Theatre of Blood. Hardcore Worlds, which Jagex describes as coming with a new game economy, follow on November 4. Menaphos is planned for 2027.
Microtransaction items leave RS3 on November 23
Jagex said on September 24 that RS3 microtransaction items marked for removal must be used by November 23, 2026. After the November Double XP event, a Well of Restoration event lets players donate eligible items for a set amount of coins, and anything left over converts to GP automatically at a reduced rate. Items being removed include Protean items, Pulse Cores, Portable Skilling Stations, Knowledge Bombs, Lamps and Stars (except Radiant Stars). Jagex has not published the conversion rates.
RS4
Jagex also revealed a fourth RuneScape MMO, working title RS4, built in Unreal Engine and set in the Sixth Age. Massively OP reports it is in very early development and a few years away, with platforms and monetization not yet decided.
What it means for buyers
As announced, gold bought for a Veteran character cannot be used on a Reignited character, because the two economies cannot trade. Jagex is reviewing that split, so check the final rules before December. A Reignited economy built from scratch will have its own prices, and no reviewed seller has Reignited listings yet; anyone selling Reignited gold or items before December 2 is selling something that does not exist. For Old School, the new raid and Hardcore Worlds are the dates to watch. Reviewed sellers are on our RuneScape 3 and Old School RuneScape pages.
