Key points
- Hotfix 44.1.3 (October 22) retired the Riven Disposition system outright: every Riven’s stats are normalized to the equivalent of a 1.2 Disposition, and every future weapon launches at 1.2.
- The losers and winners flipped overnight — Rivens for low-disposition weapons like the Laetum and Kuva Nukor class just got much stronger, while high-disposition Rivens lost roughly a fifth of their stats.
- Riven trading was disabled ahead of the change and only re-enabled once the hotfix landed: the market froze, then repriced in a single step.
- Compensation runs to December 31: every player logging in gets 1 Built Forma and 100,000 Kuva by inbox, with an extra Riven Splicer and 100,000 Kuva for players who had installed a Splicer.
The change
For ten years, a Riven’s power depended on its weapon’s Disposition — a multiplier Digital Extremes nudged up and down as weapons rose and fell in popularity, and the number every serious Riven price was built on. Hotfix 44.1.3, live October 22, retired the system outright: every Riven in the game now performs at the equivalent of a 1.2 Disposition, and every future weapon launches at 1.2. Rivens on popular, low-disposition weapons — the Laetum and Kuva Nukor class — are suddenly much stronger than the mods their owners rolled. Rivens that enjoyed high dispositions lost roughly a fifth of their stats in the same step.
The same hotfix caps Ammo Efficiency at 75%: the former 100% sources (Arcane Pistoleer, Brain Storm, Skull Shots and two Incarnon perks) now grant limited-time Infinite Ammo instead, and the Sobek’s Acid Shells recursive-explosion loop was nerfed alongside.
The freeze
Digital Extremes disabled Riven trading ahead of the change — offers failed in game while the system was mid-surgery — and re-enabled it once the hotfix landed. The effect on the market was a hard stop followed by a single repricing moment: no gradual adjustment, no window to trade on the old math once the workshop post landed. Compensation softens the landing for owners: log in by December 31 and an inbox message carries 1 Built Forma and 100,000 Kuva, with an extra Riven Splicer and another 100,000 Kuva for anyone who had installed a Splicer.
What it means for buyers
Riven prices were priced on Disposition for a decade, and that input is now gone — so listings everywhere are being repriced against the flat 1.2 scale this week, by sellers working it out as they go. Yesterday’s god-roll premiums and obscure-weapon discounts no longer map to actual strength in either direction: some of the most expensive Rivens in the game just got weaker, and some of the cheapest just became best-in-slot material. If you are buying a Riven, or an account priced on its Rivens, re-check the value from the mod’s actual stats at 1.2 before paying anything close to a pre-hotfix price — and expect launch-week prices to keep moving.
What it means for buyers
Do not pay a pre-October 22 price for any Riven this week. The stat that set those prices no longer exists; judge a Riven by what it does at a flat 1.2, and let the market settle before paying a premium in either direction.
