MTG Arena Patch Notes History

MTG Arena is Wizards of the Coast's Digital Games Studio's free-to-play digital Magic: The Gathering, launched September 26, 2019 on PC, Mac, Android and iOS under one Wizards Account. It is deliberately built without an economy: no trade system, no marketplace and no gifting of cards, Gold or Gems — Wildcards substitute for trading. Wizards publishes no headline client version, so Patch Watch tracks the game by set release. Every major update below has a short summary, what it means for buyers where it matters, and links to the official notes.

    Reality Fracture (premier set)

    • Reality Fracture released on MTG Arena September 29, 2026 (tabletop followed October 2): the premier set closing the current story arc, per Wizards’ September 28 Arena announcements.
    • Arena Direct for Reality Fracture (Bo1 Sealed) runs October 23 to November 1, 2026, and the October Qualifier Weekend (Standard) sits October 31 to November 1.
    • Wizards publishes no headline client version for Arena — Patch Watch tracks the game by set release.
    For buyers

A new set is the account market’s reset button: Wildcard stockpiles and unspent Gold and Gems are worth most in the first weeks of a set, when they convert straight into the new staples; completed older sets depreciate as they rotate out of Standard demand.
