Are World Locks an official Growtopia currency?

No. Locks are in-game items players adopted as currency (100 World Locks = 1 Diamond Lock, 100 Diamond Locks = 1 Blue Gem Lock). The only currency Ubisoft sells is Gems, via in-app purchases and authorised top-up sellers.

Can buying locks get my account banned?

Ubisoft’s Growtopian Code and Terms of Sale prohibit real-money trading of in-game items. Enforcement is documented: past rollbacks (VII–IX) removed duplicated items and froze tainted locks, hitting buyers as well as sellers.
