Trading rules, season dates and the latest patch for Second Life, from the publisher’s own statements.
Haunted Halloween & Shop & Hop
- Halloween Shop & Hop is open until November 1: more than 380 creators across 12 regions, every store at least 20% off plus a free exclusive gift or a gift certificate worth L$300 or more.
- The wider Haunted Halloween season adds Trick-or-Treat in Bellisseria, the Halloween Swaginator Hunt, a Haunted Neighborhood and Tour, and limited-time last names such as Moonglow, Spoopy, Pumpkinspice and Sanguine.
- From October 1, Premium and Premium Plus members get exclusive discounts on Primfeed Pro and Primeasy paid in Linden Dollars: deepest through October (30% and 50% off), stepping down on November 1, and bookable up to a year ahead.
It is a discount season, not a full-price one: L$ stretches at least 20% further at Shop & Hop stores until November 1, and Premium members can lock discounted Primfeed and Primeasy subscriptions at the October rates before they step down.

How Trading Works in Second Life
- Market
- LindeX + Marketplace
- Direct trade
- Yes, pay another avatar
- Buying or selling L$ for money is authorized only on the LindeX.
L$ can be paid to any avatar directly, which is why the LindeX is the only authorized place to buy or sell it.
Whatever the method, a seller never needs your password or a 2FA code to deliver currency. Anyone who asks for them is asking for your account.

Second Life Linden Dollars: The LindeX and Why Outside Sellers Are Prohibited
Second Life is one of the few online worlds with an official, regulated exchange for its currency, and Linden Lab is explicit that Linden dollars (L$) may only be bought and sold there. That makes the rules unusually clear.
How Linden dollars work
L$ is the unit of trade in Second Life. Residents use it to buy content, land and services, tip and pay each other. It can be purchased in the viewer or on the website through the LindeX, Linden Lab's official exchange, where you can buy at the current market rate, place limit orders, and sell L$ back for a credit on your account. Some residents earn enough L$ in world to sell it and even pay out the resulting balance to a real-life account. All LindeX transactions carry fees. Our Second Life L$ guide explains how residents earn L$ and our leveling guide covers getting started.
What the Terms of Service say
The Second Life Terms and Conditions state that Linden dollars may not be purchased or sold outside of the LindeX. They also say that Linden Lab may halt, suspend, discontinue or reverse any LindeX transaction, proposed, pending or past, in cases of actual or suspected fraud, violations of other laws, or deliberate interference with Second Life. In 2013 Linden Lab tightened this to disallow third-party exchanges, ran an authorized reseller pilot for a time, and closed that program on August 1, 2015, after which the LindeX became the only authorized place to purchase L$.
Why third-party L$ is risky
Linden Lab has warned residents that outside sites often use “too good to be true” discounts to lure card details, and that some use trusted payment systems while selling fraudulently obtained L$. When Linden Lab recovers fraudulent L$, buyers can struggle to recover their payment from anonymous sellers. It says using such sites both puts card information at risk and violates the Terms of Service.
Practical risks
- Reversed L$. Linden Lab can reverse transactions tied to fraud, leaving you without the L$ or your payment.
- Card theft. Lure sites collect card details.
- Account action. Terms violations can lead to account termination.
The sanctioned way
Buy L$ on the LindeX or with the “Buy L$” button in the viewer; earn it by creating and selling content and services. The Currency Calculator converts an hourly L$ rate into dollars using the current LindeX rate.
If you decide to buy from a third party
We cannot make a purchase compliant with the Terms of Service, and since the LindeX is easy to use we advise against it. If you go ahead, never share your login, avoid entering card details on unknown sites, use a payment with dispute rights and read our Second Life buying guide and safety guides.

Is it safe to buy L$ from third-party sites instead of the official LindeX?
Every vendor listed on MMODude has been reviewed for delivery speed, customer support quality and community reputation before being added to the directory. We recommend checking recent reviews and starting with a small order when trying a new vendor — the official LindeX exchange remains the most direct option if you'd rather avoid third parties entirely.
What's the difference between L$ sellers, account sellers and build services?
This page lists 5 l$ sellers, 5 account sellers and 5 land & build services. L$ sellers deliver Linden Dollars as an alternative to Linden Lab's official exchange. Account sellers sell aged or inventory-rich accounts. Land and build services are custom scripting, mesh-building and land-development commissions from experienced creators.
How often are these rankings updated?
Rankings follow the MMODude score on each seller’s review and are re-sorted whenever a score changes. The 13 reviews behind this page were last checked on October 13, 2026. The Patch Watch card above tracks the latest Second Life update (Event, Haunted Halloween & Shop & Hop, released Oct 2, 2026) and is re-checked on a schedule.
