Amazon Is Handing Back Throne and Liberty and Lost Ark. Here Is What Happens to Bought Accounts

Key points

  • Amazon Game Studios announced on August 12, 2026 that it is ending its publishing role for both games in the West.
  • Throne and Liberty moves to NC (through its studio FirstSpark Games) by the end of Q4 2026. Lost Ark moves to Smilegate in early 2027.
  • Characters, inventory and currency transfer automatically unless the account owner opts out before the transition date.
  • Lost Ark’s transfer explicitly includes “account penalty history and enforcement data”.

What Amazon announced

On August 12, 2026, Amazon Game Studios said it would stop publishing its two MMOs in the West. Throne and Liberty goes back to NC, whose studio FirstSpark Games will run it “by end of Q4 2026”. Lost Ark returns to its developer, Smilegate, with the move “planned for early 2027” and a short maintenance window on the day itself. Neither publisher has named an exact transition date yet.

Throne and Liberty: what carries over

According to the official FAQ, characters, progression, inventory and in-game currencies (Lucent, Loyalty Points, Sollant and Ornate Coins) migrate to NC automatically. Steam, PlayStation and Xbox accounts stay as they are; the press release says players only need to accept NC’s new Terms of Service. Amazon asks players to activate their Amazon Games ID and link their platform account to it before the move. Players can opt out until transition day, and opting out means “your characters, progression, and inventory will not carry over.”

One open question for traders: the FAQ says details about “items that I’ve listed on the Auction House and pending Lucent payments” will come closer to the transition.

Lost Ark: what carries over and what does not

Smilegate’s transfer covers characters, progression, inventory and items, and wallet balances (Royal Crystals, Blue Crystals, Gold and Silver) at full value. Players link their Steam account to Smilegate’s systems on first login after the move. In-game mail, chat history and various memos do not transfer. Subscriptions such as Crystalline Aura will be cancelled before the move, and Spanish language support ends with the October 2026 update.

The list of transferred data also includes “account penalty history and enforcement data”. A warning or strike from the Amazon era does not disappear with the new publisher.

What it means for buyers

If you bought an account, check now that you control the login the transfer depends on: the Amazon Games ID and linked platform account for Throne and Liberty, and the Steam account for Lost Ark. A seller who still holds those can opt the account out or recover it during the move. A past RMT penalty on a Lost Ark account also comes along to Smilegate. Gold and Lucent balances transfer at full value, so currency itself is not at risk from the switch. Hold off on large Lucent trades through the Auction House until the rules for pending payments are published. Compare sellers on our Throne and Liberty and Lost Ark pages, and read buying accounts vs buying gold first.
