Transition Prep: Auction House Closes
- A prep update for the November 10 service transition, not a content update: downtime began October 26 at 10:30 p.m. PT and ran about six hours.
- Starting with this maintenance the Auction House is temporarily closed, and Celebration Packs, Character Boost and Lucent packs are removed from Steam, Xbox, PlayStation and the in-game shop until NC shares details after the transition.
- Settings, HUD layout, Ring Menu, chat tabs, favorites and other preferences changed between 4.18.0 and the transition maintenance will be reset; skill and equipment presets are NOT reset. Damage rules are split (Defense-ignoring vs Fixed Damage), skill tooltips and weapon Skill, Skill Core and equipment effects adjusted, Vegamor mechanics fixed, and daylight-saving local resets shift while events stay at 08:00 UTC.
Plan purchases around the freeze: no Auction House from October 26 until the November 10 handover finishes, and expect your UI settings to reset. The November 10 Skill Core system change is advance notice only, not part of 4.18.0.

How Trading Works in Throne and Liberty
- Market
- Auction House
- Direct trade
- No
- Lucent bought from the store can be held for 3 days before it can be used on the Auction House.
Lucent can only change hands through Auction House purchases, which is why outside sellers mostly offer accounts and boosting.
Whatever the method, a seller never needs your password or a 2FA code to deliver currency. Anyone who asks for them is asking for your account.

Throne and Liberty Lucent: Negative Balances and Amazon's RMT Enforcement
Throne and Liberty has an unusual response to real-money trading: instead of only banning accounts, Amazon Games can push a buyer's Lucent balance below zero and lock them out of the Auction House until it is repaid. Here is how the system works and what the studio has said.
How Lucent works
Lucent is the game's premium currency. It can be bought from the store with real money and is used in the shop and the Auction House, which is the main way players trade. Players also earn Lucent by selling items on the Auction House. Our Lucent farming guide covers what sells and how to price it.
Purchase holding period
According to Amazon's support article on currency restrictions, Lucent bought with real money can be used immediately in the in-game shop, but it may be subject to a temporary three-day holding period before it can be used to buy items from the Auction House. That design is aimed at fraud and at currency laundered through the market.
What Amazon and NCSoft have said about RMT
Amazon Games has posted that it monitors RMT activity and takes enforcement action, that players impacted may see their Lucent balance go negative, and that those players are sanctioned: Auction House access is restricted until the balance is positive again, and they cannot receive Lucent from guild distributions, including Lucent earned in PvP. The studio describes a zero-tolerance approach with escalating punishments based on severity and prior infractions, up to permanent bans. It also says that spending Lucent obtained through RMT does not protect a player from disciplinary measures, because the currency is removed.
What that means in practice
Because the Auction House is the game's trading system, currency purchased outside it has to pass through the same market. Amazon's approach lets it claw the value back after the fact by driving the balance negative, so a buyer can lose both the Lucent and the ability to trade until they pay it off with real earnings.
Other risks
- Bots and guild recruitment. Players report bot-run guilds selling Lucent and pressuring players into buying it.
- Appeals. Amazon offers one route to appeal a penalty and does not review repeat appeals, per its support pages.
- Scams. Off-market offers give you no recourse.
Ways to get Lucent
Buy Lucent from the official store (accepting the holding period), or earn it by selling items on the Auction House. The Currency Calculator converts hourly earnings into dollars, and the leveling guide covers progression.
If you decide to buy from a third party
We cannot make a purchase compliant with Amazon's rules, and given the negative-balance mechanism we advise against it. If you go ahead, never share your login and read our Throne and Liberty buying guide and safety guides.
