Key points
- Modern Warfare 4 is live worldwide: Infinity Ward opened the game early on October 23, completing a rollout that began with Campaign Early Access on October 16 and DMZ Early Access on October 20.
- It is a $69.99 standalone purchase on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2 — a Modern Warfare title on a Nintendo platform for the first time in over a decade — and it is not included with Game Pass at launch.
- Launch multiplayer runs 12 core 6v6 maps plus Kill Block, a training facility that reconfigures into more than 500 layouts, three Ground War maps and four Gunfight maps; DMZ returns in the Hajin Exclusion Zone.
- Warzone stays on Black Ops 7 until Season 1 on November 6 syncs it to Modern Warfare 4 — and Black Ops 7’s final season, The Haunting, has ended as MW4 takes over.
Live early
The staggered rollout is finished. Campaign Early Access opened October 16 for digital pre-orders, DMZ Early Access followed on October 20, and the full game — multiplayer included — was set to complete the ladder on October 23. Infinity Ward moved first, opening the game early; the official Call of Duty account confirmed within minutes that Modern Warfare 4 is live worldwide. Anyone who bought the game can play everything, on every platform, now.
The launch also closes the Black Ops 7 era: its sixth and final season, The Haunting, ends as MW4 takes over the franchise’s centre of gravity.
What is in the game today
Multiplayer opens with 12 core 6v6 maps — Cachette, Coal, Lithium, Lotus, Mumbai, Munition, Nautical, Reactor U92, Rooftops, Sentry, Silkworm and Transit 213 — plus Kill Block, a dynamic training facility with more than 500 layout configurations, three Ground War maps and four Gunfight maps. New modes Hijack and Collateral join the returning staples, and DMZ, the extraction mode, returns in the Hajin Exclusion Zone after its early-access opening on October 20.
The two weeks ahead
The preseason week is already scheduled from Activision’s roadmap: Shipment returns on October 27, the new Possession mode lands October 29, and Infected follows on October 30. Season 1 then begins November 6, two weeks after launch — earlier in the cycle than Call of Duty usually runs — and that is when Warzone switches its integration from Black Ops 7 to Modern Warfare 4, syncing progression and carrying MW4’s Operators and weapons across. Activision has said Warzone support on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One ends with the Black Ops 7 cycle; it has not given a final day, and we are not printing one until it does.
What it means for buyers
A Call of Duty launch restarts the account and boosting market from zero: every MW4 account on sale today was levelled during a week of early access, and every Season 1 claim in a listing is fiction until November 6. Launch week is also peak scam season for this franchise — discounted COD Points and “Vault Edition unlocks” that undercut the in-game store by a wide margin are bait, not deals. The reviewed sellers on our Call of Duty page are the ones we have checked; if you are buying boosting for the new game, start with them and start small.
What it means for buyers
Modern Warfare 4 accounts and boosting are a launch-day market now, priced on a week of early access and a lot of promises. Buy only from reviewed sellers, and treat any listing offering Season 1 content before November 6 as fiction.
