Halloween event (October 2026)
- Event-only entry, not a numbered update: Rockstar's October Halloween run pays triple GTA$ and RP on Halloween Survivals and Slasher modes and double on Bail Office targets, Dispatch Work, UFO Business Battles, Jack O' Lanterns and Ghosts Exposed, all through November 4.
- Five weekly challenges run October 1 to November 4 (Bounties, Adversary wins, Race wins, then two Survival weeks), paying masks and outfits plus GTA$2,000,000 for completing all of them.
- The Clone Slasher, the Phantom Car and Peyote Plants return for the season, alongside the Ghosts Exposed Jacket for photographing all 10 spirits.
Event weeks, not a new DLC: no new heist or permanent content here, so account value still rests on the 1.73 Kortz Center Heist content below — the Halloween payouts are a bonus window, not a progression reset.

GTA Online Money: Shark Cards, Modded Accounts and Bans
GTA Online has one sanctioned way to buy in-game money — Rockstar's Shark Cards — and a large third-party market for “money drops,” modded accounts and boosting that Rockstar treats as cheating. The difference between the two is the difference between a purchase and an account that can be reset overnight.
How money works in GTA Online
GTA$ come from missions, heists, businesses and events, and are spent on vehicles, properties and upgrades whose prices have risen over the years. Shark Cards are bought from Rockstar or platform stores for real money and are the sanctioned way to add GTA$ instantly. Because progression costs so much, the third-party market thrives on the gap between what players want and what the game gives away for free. Our GTA Online money farming guide shows the best current earners, and the Currency Calculator can turn them into an hourly value.
What Rockstar's policy says
Rockstar's suspension and ban policy states that bans take effect immediately and do not expire, and that once a ban is issued, characters, progress, property, inventory and virtual currency become inaccessible and may be reset. A suspension can be followed by a permanent ban for later violations, and Rockstar warns that baseless appeals can themselves lead to further action. Rockstar has also stated, in relation to its removal of illegitimately gained money, that GTA$ purchased through Shark Cards remain on the account — a distinction that matters, because it shows the company draws a clear line between currency it sold you and currency that came from cheats or exploits.
What that means for buyers of money drops and modded accounts
Sellers of “money drops” use modded lobbies to add cash to your account, and sellers of “modded accounts” deliver accounts where the cash and rank were injected. Rockstar has repeatedly removed illegitimately obtained GTA$ from accounts, in some cases resetting balances to zero, and its policy treats modding as grounds for suspension and, on repeat violations, permanent bans. The practical risks are a wiped balance, a suspension or, on a repeat, a permanent loss of everything you had on the account — including legitimate progress.
Risks that aren't about the rules
- Credentials. Many modded services need your login, which gives a stranger access to your Rockstar and platform accounts.
- Malware. Mod menus and “free money” downloads are a common way to spread malware.
- Chargebacks. Some sellers reverse the payment after delivery, and platforms can penalize the buyer for involvement.
Better options
- Shark Cards if you want money now without any enforcement risk.
- Efficient legitimate earners — heist and business rotations change often, and the farming guide keeps the latest lineup.
- Play with friends. Group play speeds up most money-making activities significantly and is entirely within the rules.
If you decide to buy from a third party
We cannot make a purchase compliant with Rockstar's terms, and we don't encourage breaking them. If you go ahead anyway, understand the worst case in advance: never give a seller your login, expect that modded funds can be removed, avoid deals that need remote access to your console or PC, and use payment methods with dispute rights. Our GTA Online buying guide and the safety guides go through the details, and the vendors above are scored on delivery, support, pricing and trust.
