Heroes of the Storm Patch Notes History

Heroes of the Storm is Blizzard's 5v5 MOBA built from its franchises' heroes, in maintenance mode from July 8, 2022 until Patch 57 broke the run in September 2026. Gems are the premium currency for heroes and skins, bought per Battle.net account; heroes and cosmetics are never traded between accounts.     Xal’atath, Harbinger of the Void

    • Patch 57 (v2.57.0), live September 28, 2026, added Xal’atath, Harbinger of the Void — the 91st hero and the first new hero since Hogger in December 2020, per Blizzard’s Live Patch Notes of the same date.
    • Xal’atath was announced at BlizzCon 2026 (September 12), tested on the PTR from September 14, and launched at a $7.99 unlock with a gold option tentatively planned for late November 2026; Blizzard has teased a possible 92nd hero.
    • One patch is not yet a proven cadence: the game entered maintenance mode on July 8, 2022, and while balance and bugfix patches resumed from September 2023, Patch Watch treats the cadence as unproven until further dated releases land.
