How Trading Works in Genshin Impact
There is no way to hand currency or items to another player, so anything sold outside the game is an account, a top-up or a boosting service.
A top-up or boost that needs your login gives the seller full access to your account, and most publishers treat shared logins as a rules break in their own right.
First Top-Up Bonus: double Genesis Crystals on the first purchase of each pack size.
HoYoverse’s standing publisher bonus, sold through Codashop — once per pack size, only if the character has never topped up before. Checked Oct 17, 2026. See the offer

Genshin Impact Top-Ups and Accounts: What HoYoverse Allows
Genshin Impact has no tradeable gold. Its premium currency, Genesis Crystals, converts into Primogems for wishes, and it is sold by HoYoverse through official stores. That makes the third-party market around Genshin quite different from the MMO gold market — and, according to the developer, considerably more restricted. Here is what the rules say and how to plan your spending.
How the currency works
Genesis Crystals are bought with real money and converted one-to-one into Primogems, which are spent on wishes (the game's gacha pulls) at 160 Primogems per pull. Free players also earn Primogems through exploration, quests, events and the Spiral Abyss. Because a guaranteed featured five-star can take up to 180 pulls in the worst case — 28,800 Primogems — planning is a central part of playing the game. Our Pity Calculator shows the worst case for your current pity, and our Genshin Impact free-to-play progression guide explains how much free currency you can expect.
What HoYoverse says about third-party top-ups and accounts
HoYoverse has stated in an official announcement that accounts obtained through account selling or exchanging, and top-ups made through non-official channels and third parties, are “strictly forbidden.” The developer says it will respond with measures that include removal of inappropriately obtained rewards, suspension and permanent bans, depending on the seriousness and number of violations. A separate account-security notice warns players not to rely on unofficial pages for topping up Primogems or selling accounts, because many compromised accounts were found to have logged in to such sites.
We list top-up sellers and account marketplaces on this page because players ask about them and because it is better to state the rules plainly next to the options than to leave them out. Listing a seller is not an endorsement, and it does not make a purchase permitted.
How third-party top-ups typically go wrong
- Chargebacks and negative balances. A commonly reported pattern: a seller uses a stolen card or a refunded payment to buy Genesis Crystals for you. When the payment is reversed, HoYoverse deducts the crystals, sometimes leaving the balance negative until the debt is cleared — and the account can be restricted.
- Login requests. Some services ask for account credentials to top up. Sharing them exposes the account to theft, which the developer's own notice highlights.
- Prices that seem too good. Very deep discounts usually mean the seller is not paying the normal price through a legitimate route.
Buying an account
Accounts sold on third-party marketplaces are covered by the same rules: HoYoverse says accounts obtained by selling or exchanging are subject to action, and sellers commonly reclaim accounts after a sale by using the recovery details they still hold. That combination — a seller who can take back what they sold, and a developer that treats the sale as a violation — makes account purchases risky in a way that does not apply to a simple currency sale.
Safer ways to spend and save
- Use the in-game store or HoYoverse's official web shop for any purchase you make. The price is the price, and the transaction is between you and the developer.
- Plan with the worst case. The Pity Calculator shows how many pulls guarantee your target so that you can decide whether a banner is worth the spending.
- Treat gacha spending as entertainment spending. Set a limit in advance; outcomes are random until you reach pity.
Our Genshin Impact buying guide and the RMT safety guides cover the additional steps for anyone who still chooses a third-party route, and the vendors above are scored on delivery, support, pricing and trust.
